Also bad feedback can be left when someone has outlay-ed money to aquire an item (in the form of courier or travel costs) but the other party pulled out, even then mods need proof of receipt that money was spent and all avenues from both parties have been exhausted to satisfy the aggrieved party.

Fair enough. My concern was where one side had already incurred costs on couriers or travel etc (as per Skankdelvar's example) then the other party pulls out - that seems to be covered by this

If people only leave positive feedback what is the point of leaving feedback at all???
    [/quote]

This. If the feedback threads mean anything at all, then I would want to know if someone had messed another basschatter about on a deal. One of the reasons I buy and sell on here is simply that the experience is so much more positive than ebay. If someone has had a negative experience I think we should know.

Good advice. And if the mistake is really bad, glare at the guitarist, and most of the punters will think it's him

Seriously, learning 40 songs in a fortnight is bloody impressive. I do well to learn one in that time!

  4. I didn't say laminate meant it was a bad body. Just that I don't think it's a US Fender, which is the question implied in the OP.

If it sounds good, that's fine!

  5. I suspect that's actually something like a Columbus copy from the 70s / early 80s.

As far as I know, Fender have never produced a laminate body of that type - certainly not from the Corona factory. You can pick Fender neck plates up on ebay for as little as £10.

I've never found a J pickup to blend well with a P; often I'll get a solo'd sound I like but it then vanishes in the mix. A MM seems to blend better...all this is a matter of taste of course.

Agree 100% with this. I added a J pickup to my 70s reissue P and it just doesn't seem to work. I end up using just the P. I think a Stingray type pickup just suits the P sound better.

  7. Rickenbackers can do clanky. But solo the neck pickup and roll off the treble and you have a great thick thumpy tone. They are far more versatile than people give them credit for. Properly EQ'd you can get nice grindy rock tones, clanky Chris Squire tones, and rounded Jazz tones.

The playablity is a bit Marmite though. I love mine, but the necks do take some adjusting to if you're used to a Fender.

The fingers are far more versatile. That's all there is to it. There may be pick players who deny it, but it is true.

Using both is most versatile. Try playing the intro run on No More Heroes with your fingers. You might be able to do it, but it just doesn't sound as good.
