1. Come on Christmas is coming! You want to try a 5 string, but Stingray's cost so much!
So, putting it back out there, a Music Man OLP Tony Levin signature 5 string bass in natural wood finish. Based on Tony's Stingray, these basses sound fantastically good, and for the price this is a lot of bass for your money.
I have giged the bass on three occassions it is in imaculate nick. I have just put some new Ernie Ball stings on.
Bass cost me £300, for sale here £200. With gig bag £225 with hard case £240.
Collection would be best as you can then try it out, I'm in Milton Keynes.
If delievry is required, then prices will be worked out as and when.
I'm not looking to trade as I have too many basses now, hence the sale.

Is this still up for grabs? I'm in Milton Keynes so not too far away.

3. Are you just looking for exchange? In the basses front I have a defretted (professionally) top end Bass Collection 5 string, and OLP Tony Levin Signature 5 and a 70's vintage Aria Pro II through neck 4 (also professionally de-fretted). If not, what sort of price would you be looking for?

I wouldnt mind you Wal though haha...aslong as you put a few grand with it too :)

Yeah..............that's not gonna happen.
Good luck in the wide world of 5 strings. Stingrays are well worth a look.

5. I have a Bass Collection 5 string that was over £800 when I brought it 8 years ago, I had it de-fretted so it has lines where the frets were, tobacco sunburst, nice bass, also a Tony Levin signature OLP 5 string, natural finish. I can provide pics if you're interested.

6.
We had the bose rep bring a couple of L1's plus subs to Coopers Jazz Club in Guiseley.
I was keen to try the system with my double bass, I liked the idea of having a speaker at ear level for intonation reasons.
He set one pole behind me, and one at the the front of the stage to one side.
After a lot of tweaking I got a reasonable sound.
Then he mixed in the piano and vocals and I was deafened, I was too close, but the pianist was too far away and he wanted more volume.
We had to re-position the one from behind me to other side of the stage, and I plugged into my SWR Baby Blue combo.
I wasn't keen on the sound either, very harsh, compared to the EV Eliminators we use.

Dissappointing, after reading about Ron Carter using them, but then I guess he doesn't put the whole band through his.

The system was tested at another jazz club in Boston Spa, they had similar problems.
Ideally each band member should have their own tower.
I've not heard the new model.
This is just the sort of information I needed thanks, yes I can see that they would want everybody in the band with their own but even three units and the tonematch mixers, which are really required for the L1 Mk II system makes each unit over £2k. On the plus side for a singer songwriter or say a standup vocal pa they would work pretty well and there is no feedback even when the mic was 2" from the collum. I'm happy with my backline for the bass, it's just the old vocals getting lost/monitoring thing.

7. I have been looking into the Bose Personal Amplification system and have had a demo of the kit in my local soundcontrol with a cd and a live mic, but I was wondering if there's anybody who has actually used the thing in anger. As it does away with backline, monitors and pa it is a radical departure from the set-ups I 've been playing all my bass playing life.
It does seem a very interesting idea, but I would really like to hear from people who have actually gigged with this stuff

8. Just changed amp so am selling my HA3500 350W head. Pre-amp has both transistor and Valve sections that can be blended, a really good compressor and graphic that lights up with little red LED's.
There is a bit of damage (see pics), the 30Hz slider still works but the grey plastic bit, including the aforementioned LED, has got lost along the way This was before I put it in the flight case, which is a polycarbonate 19" case. Looking in soundcontrol today it is essentially a Gator case, in fact exactly the same just no logo, they are about £60 new. If you don't want the flight case case, I do still have the original box.
So Amp in case £230. I am open to reasonable offers If it needs to be posted, it weighs 15Kg and that would be extra. I am very happy to 'meet half way'. I live in Milton Keynes.
