  1. HI,
Seem to have a strange one here, so would apreciate any input. I have a TE 3 channel gpr preamp, and I know the channel switching relays are not functioning properly, should be easy fix, if I can find the same relays.
However, every now and then , there is a sharp " crack " sound, and I noticed, at the same time, that a miniature blue spark would jump from the amp, but not always in the same place ! The designer of the amp advised me to check the soldering to the valve bass, as that's where the highest voltages are, but only 120v, didn't think that could jump 1/4 inch. Could the Toroidal be at fault ? or a condenser ?

What could cause this, anyone have any ideas?

Sparks, like miniature lightning, seem to jump into the air, from the amp chassis, but it is so quick, that I might be missing something.

    Mike.

  2. I,m now selling my Aria Travel bass, very useful for keeping in the car, so that you can play or practise anytime, anywhere. Very, very light, with it's clip on frame, and with it's built in electronics, can be used with headphones, straight into the PA , or into a regular Bass amp. So , all options covered. Good variety of tones, but excels when used to back acoustic guitars, seems to leave them the space they need . Condition is good, and clean, except for some slight marking at the "headstock ". Comfortable action, straight neck, and frets in good condition. Price is £165, collected from west Sussex, willing to pack for your carrier to collect.

  3. Hi,
I have for sale my Trace Elliot RA500 power amp. These were built for the Stadium boys in the 80's, and John Entwistle used several in his early stacks. It is a Stereo, 250 watts per channel power amp, with built in crossover, and mono/ stereo switching, great for Bi-amping. Fabulous build quality on this early mk 5 era equipment. Amp is in really clean, cared for condition, I used it with an SWR Grand prix preamp, and a couple of trace cabs, 2x10, and 1 x 15, sounded great, even outdoors ! Price is £199, collected from West Sussex, where it can be tried out.

    Hi,

Bits and bobs I don't or won't be finishng.
Westone Thunder 1a body, been very heavily painted ( yuk ). I have planed off the front, to show how good the body is underneath, but further stripping is needed.£20
Westone Thunder 1a body, original finish, showing natural signs of it's age, £35
Black plywood Jazz body ( had a hohner neck plate, but not sure ), Bit marked, has been routed for a kahler Tremelo, so would need a block glued in, if fitting a normal bridge, £18
Brand new, unused, and undrilled, Ken Smith Design 5 string Jazz body, in clear Gloss Finish. Simply Stunning ! On Hold
Westone Thunder 1a neck, defretted by Moronicus Sodicus, so untidy filling on Fretboard, Could probably be improved....but ? £20
Westone Thunder 1a neck. Been stripped and refinished, not bad, not good, little more work, and it could be fine.£30
Ibanez bass neck, stripped tension rod, strange cuts to headstock, really only good for practising bass repair skills ! £10
Kahler 4 string Bass tremelo, as new £99
P bass body, very, very light, made from very light wood, and faced with Maple. Great if you have a bad back, which is why I bought it. Looks superb from a few feet away, ( wax finish ) but, on close inspection, has a few niggling flaws, but, did I say how light it was ! £75
All prices are for collection from West Sussex. Post can be an option, but I prefer people to see before buying !

  5. Hi,
I have an EBS purpose built case to fit any of the EBS rack mount amps. This is the larger case EBS do, so if you fit the 350, you still have room for a tuner. Case is same width as the Neo 2 x 12 cab, and the fabric covering is the same. Front and back of case have removeable plates that really protect the amp when traveling. It will, naturally, take any make of rack mount amp, up to 3u high.
Good insurance for your valuable amp, and only £65, collected West Sussex.

    Hi ,
Up for sale is my Fender Princeton 112 plus Guitar amp. I bought this for our slide guitarist, to get him by, after he had his Van broken into, and all his guitars, amps and PA were stolen . He's getting back to normal now (it's been a year ), so this is up for sale. It's been very well cared for, nice and clean, great clean sound on the one hand, and a nice dirty sound on the other. Good reverb, too, if I remember. Price is £75 , collected West Sussex.

  7. Hi
I'm selling my Grant black Jazz Bass, MIJ, I believe, in the 80's. Smart looker, with Tort pickguard, and black binding and block markers on a maple neck. Neck is slightly wider than a F.... Jazz, and there is one mark to the finish on the back of the neck, but no wood damage, and dosen't affect playing. Tuners feel a bit tight, probably need a clean/ adjust. Price is £125, collected from West Sussex. pics to follow.

At the request of a basschatter, I have been asked to confirm the body is NOT made of plywood, this I can do, the body is solid wood. ( see pic in control cavity )

    Hi,

Selling my Yamaha BSP 100 bass preamp, small size ('bout the size of a car radio ), but plenty of feaures. Has compressor/limiter, graphic EQ, effex loop etc, and runs from 12v adaptor. Front of unit is clean, metal case has a few marks. Pics to follow..........£38 if collected from West Sussex

  9. In my search for space, I have removed the innards from my practice combo. Should anyone want the Bare cabinet, it is free, if collected, from West Sussex. Green carpet covering is in good condition, as is cab. Would easily convert to extention cab, for someone who already has a BLX combo.

  10. Best thing to do ,is come and try it. Probably better coupled with a 15, but not absolutely sure. I don't belt my gear, to find out how loud it will go, so no expert. Easy for me to set it up for trial, but remember, it's 4 ohms. I do have amps that run at 2 ohms, and I also have a Trace elliot 2 x 250 (real ) watts RA500 power amp, that I used to use when I was bi-amping, usually out-of doors , so, plenty of options to try. BTW, I'm really into retro bass gear, it's a sickness of mine !
My guess is that Ampeg built this as a smaller version of the 8 x 10 , to be used in more normal sized venues, rather than Stadiums. Just a guess !
