Yamaha always for me, but I do know Ibenez make great basses too...but my bike is Yamaha, my Hi-Fi is Yamaha...never had a bad Yamaha anything, that's about as scientific as I get!

"It wasn't just the money difference either - the '75 had those dumb (but pretty) physically uncomfortable-to-play-on chrome guards over the pickups. Taking them off would leave holes and I don't like to see holes in things like that. "
like these...still got my scratchplate film on too!

Fender P bass arrived safe and sound, as described (lovely!) prompt delivery too, great guy to deal with
-
Thanks!
1/ I don't really understand what you mean with that?
I have been trying to find a new scratchplate for my VMJ but can't see anything off the shelf...maybe MIM J's are close, I wondered if you had tried anything? -
is it me, or are these Coda prices a tad on dear side?
-
wow, those pups look sexy, nice work fitting them!
I'm just thinking about sexing my VMJ up.....couple of questions
1/ Have you sourced pickguards (scratchplates)?
2/ Where did you get those Fender decals, they look A1?
many thanks -
did you ever find out if there are VMJ scratchplates about?
-
I'll be the first to say I don't know my Fender's that well (getting there!) but the serial number breaks out as 2008-2009 and the Fender on the head is written in grey, not black as 2009's are...or am I wrong?

Wow, yes you are correct....didn't know they had launched this at all, sorta passed me by many thanks
Compared to my VMJ neck same radii @ 9.5" but larger at the nut as a P bass at 41.3mm against 38mm
hmm, looks lovely to my eyes -
My 1st bass was Yamaha 374 active....I wish I still had it, lovely quality bass feel with twin humbuckers and loud loud loud...more of a jazz neck feel too.
-
thanks for that....I was refering to the dogs cock pink Classic Vibe 60's P bass, my fault although the 50's seem to get a good reviews too...
Interestingly what you found with the VM v CV is exactly what I found when I bought when choosing between the VMJ and CVJ...
both very good for the money....my friend whom has been playing for some 30 years, is amazed how the quality of cheap basses has come on. -

I didn't know there was a Vintage Modified P bass...everyone seems to talk about the VM jazz (I have one!) any reason why, is the CVP that much better?

this 'sold' a few weeks back, now back on sale -
thanks for the help guys,
....the MIM's do have a far better colour selection...all I can find for Classic Vibes is 'dogs cock red' and 'nan's bathroom blue', are there any other colours....also some have bridge ashtrays some don't?
cheers -
Cruel Angels Thesis or Neon Genesis Evangelion....or whatever it's called I'm not into cartoons!
I think this is played in F minor and seems so strange to my pinkies and my ears too...it could be the 1st tune I have seen in F minor..is this an unusual key? Tidy player though....I'm wondering what a mini-skirt 'n Bet Lynch tights could do for my own playing
-
Just to muddy the waters....Yamaha BB414/424's have quite sporty necks and these passive versions have super hot pups....and there is a bonus J screwed on the end to stop you getting bored;) I simply love mine and a real keeper but you really need to play one to see why owners like them so much
OTPJ has a 424 for sale I think?
Hey, I'm selling a brand new Fender Squier Precision Bass in white with black pickguard.
It's a solid, chunky bass that delivers excellent tone. Its got a smooth, straight neck and the build quality is excellent, the thing feels indestructible!! Perfect for rock, indie and punk music, with the classic white/black punk look.
The bass is brand new, I recently bought it at PMT Music in Leeds and it has no marks or fret wear and has certainly never been gigged - its never left the house.
I bought this bass recently as a back up but i can't get used to the neck (my hands are a little too small !)
This bass would be ideal for a either a beginner or a regular player. It would also be a solid back up bass.
Cash on Collection is preferred but local delivery might be possible.
The bass is advertised elsewhere, but images can be seen through this link.

I'm looking for £190 for the guitar and no trades.
Any questions, drop me a line.
Cheers. Sean.
Edit: Secondhand may be a more accurate description. I bought this guitar on 03/07/10 and its never left the house. Like brand new i'd say.
I've had the 614 and 414 which is a keeper for sure,
...the active Raspberry 614 was a great bass (real slap machine) and I now wished I hadn't sold her now so quickly, but at the time I thought it had too many controls for me, and yes the pre-amp can make this bass sing high treble and super deep bass notes, but with it flat it's goes a little quiet....I gota say though the 414 is a super bass, red hot pups too, fast neck and sublime finish, can't go wrong
sometimes some new old stock ones appear on Fleabay from a compnau called whybuynew...worth checking them out
