  1. What's the etiquette regarding trying other folk basses Do we seek out the owner for permission or do we trust each other enough not to damage the kit and just go for it?

  2. All my basses have had a pro set up and the differences made have been enormous. The guy who does it knows exactly what I like and they are so much easier to play when they're set up properly. I'd get a set up done first.

I change strings every gig. I hate "old " strings. I hear a difference after a few hours of playing . I use rounds , but find flats also " go off" after a short period of playing

I dread to ask what that costs you. I flinch at the price of decent strings. Probably why I now never change them, lol!

  4. Many years ago I changed strings every month to keep the "zing". Then I started using DR's which were twice the price of the Rotos I used at the time so I changed every 2 months. Now I never change them. If the bass gets set up then I'll put new strings on but other than that they're on til they break.

  5. Saw Dan Reed on Sunday with Karl Sweeney standing in on bass, just wondering if Karl's a BC'er. He's 20 years old, from Liverpool and an excellent player. if you read this Karl well done on some mighty fine playing. Your solo was outstanding.
