1.
Looks nice. Does he have a website?
Yes he does! www.tks.se It´s all in Swedish though, since the company is small, he at this point only market himself through a swedish bass-forum and through recommendations. But you could se the different models on the site easily. 212 is a 2x12 2128 is a 2x12 with an 8" I think he has some new models for 2010 as well with 15" with 6" and so on. I´m very pleased with mine so far. Don´t know how it would stand upp against Aguilar/Genz Benz and such, haven´t A/B tested as said. But for the money it really kicks ass. Almost the same depth/bottom in the sound as my JCM 8000 2x15. I think it´s preferrably Emminence-speakers he uses but I´m a bit unsure of that.
2. I have a TKS 212 that weights just above 20kg. I think possibly 21kg, but not more. TKS is a small swedish brand and Tommy who builds them does it by hand. Of course he doesn´t build that many cabs, but he is focusing on lightweight cabs with a lot of punch/bottom. He has a 2x15 that weights 25kg. His 1x12 is really kickass. They´re also really affordable! I think a standard 2x12 costs around 400-450 Euros. I haven´t A/B tested one against Aguilar and such, but for me, it isn´t worth the difference in price. Here is my custom 2x12-cab:
3. Hm... That sounds a bit intimidating i must say... Seems like a bit to big coincidence with the names there... Anyone else? The bass seems at a glance for real, but one never knows untill you´ve tested it, and sometimes yo don´t even know after testing...
4. Have found a -73 Telecasterbass wich is modded with P-pup on Ebay and wonder if anyone possibly have any feedback on the seller. The bass is at Spanish Guitar Centre in London if I´m informed correctly wich seems to have some kind of connection with andysguitarnet, whatever that might be. Does anybody know if it´s somewhat safe to buy and/or is there any rumours around the shop/seller?

6.
My dream amp is for sale when I need something lightweight ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This IS lightweight! 25 kilo all tube with that power... Thats lightweight...! My Sunn with 300w weights 40 kilos...
7. Thanks for helping out with the english language! We swedes all think we speak english fluently.... And yes, I should have left it as ir was after the first round, I agree... But I just HAD to keep going... I´m taking this as one lession out of hopefully many. One of these days I´ll try relicing a body that doesnt cost like one weeks ration of Red Bull, and I´ll hopefully will know what to do or not to do then. I kind of like it the way it is now though, I´ll try the teabag-trick this weekend if I get the time, that will probably make some difference in the appearance of the body.

9. I´ll try it later this week, hopefully I will get som time over on Sunday afternoon to continue this. I need a neck as well... Thought I found a ´78 Jazz-neck with RW but it wasnt for sale after all.
10. sh*te. This is a bit to big to ship to Sweden... This is a bargain... Does the JCM-cabs cost that cheap in the UK? Here in Sweden they go for around 300-350 Pounds (Well, we deal with Swedish Kronor ofcourse...) I Have one of these and a 4x12. Would love to buy this one! Sorry for just talking. Buy this one folks! Really good cab!
11. Alrigth! I think I have a tube of Autosol left since polishing the bumpers on my Camaro. Have to look for it. Actually thought of Autosol from the start, do you think I could use it right away without sanding first? I used a bunch of wrinkled newspaper to rub the bass yesterday, worked pretty good and created tiny scratches that looked pretty natural, but it would take a week to do it that way....
12. I´m a bit reluctant to use sandingpaper for this. The laquer is getting really white when scraping it and so, I´m afraid that it would make the whole bass white... I´ll give it a go later maybe, but I think I´ll try som chemicals also.
13.
I don't mean to be rude, but that sort of ‘relicing’ doesn't really do it for me (although I love relics!). It looks a bit too much like you had to fight it off with a screwdriver in the dead of night! Makes a good punk bass though. Personally, I think that the best way to attain a 'relic' type finish is to strip all the paint off, do some careful masking of areas to stay as ‘wood’ (checking some genuine relic photos for accuracy) Respray body and coat with nitro, and then use that as your starting point for ‘blending it all in. I was going to do that with a strat of mine, but I stripped off the paint and it looked so cool (to me!) that I just left it like that. Having said that, it’s your bass and if you are happy with it then fine!
Well, as stated, this is my first attempt on doing some kind of relic. You don´t get a pro first time trying do you? And since I wanted... sort of this look, the dents around the sides of the bass, I found my method pretty satisfying. And no, I didn´t use screwdrivers and it was in broad daylight... The big problem is to get the bigger parts more natural and the front and back less shiny and with some dents and small chips of paint beaten off.
14. I´ve seen a lot of old Fenders, around 60-63 looking..... similar to this, with all the marks and dents along the sides of the body, that´s the marks I really wanted. Those marks weren´t made by the floor though, well, most of them weren´t. Since the Pre CBS-basses had a bit thinner paint, this one looks like someone chewed on it... Really thick layers of paint. As said, it was like new when I got it, and yes, there´s some scratches and dents ofcourse. IF I´m going to refin, I´ll take the whole paint off down to the wood and fill up the worst dents. Note that this is a really cheap body, solid wood though, but cheap. Next project is trying to get the paint a bit less shiny and find somehing to darken the wood that is uncovered so it looks a bit aged.
15. Well. Were keen on getting another project since my Aerodyne/Jazzbass Special-project is nearly done and don´t have the inspiration to complete it... First thoughts were a Jazz bass. Shoreline Gold with Blocks/bindings and MHS. Got hold of a cheap loades J&D-body in 3-tone SB. When the body arrived I just wanted to se if I could get a pretty nice relic befor respraying it... and then I just got carried away... This is after the first rounds of Jazz-body VS cement-floor: 8Is it called cementfloor??) After round 2: After round 3 wich included some sanding and celaning of the dust after throwing the body across the floor: I´ve been working on the places where the wood is visable after the last photos, but just a little bit on the front and some more on the back. So, it´s not a pro-job, but it´s fun and I´m learning a lot of what you souldn´t or shouldn´t do...

17. But what does the bass cost? I can´t find the actual money asked for this bass anywhere, what am I missing?
18. I´m really sorry if things were going wrong because of me just wanting to know if anyone knew about the bass. I´ve recieved loads of pictures of the bass and is just in thought in weither I should buy it and the sell my Pre Ernie Ball Stingray or if I should skip this one. I´d probably get a divorce if I dont atleast promise to sell something if I buy the Bird... So... sorry guys and especially you jimi if it was, in my opinion, my pretty reasonable concern and couriosity that got the thread in a.... slight mellow mode...! As said I just wanted to know if anyone new anything about the bass or the seller.
19. I´ve recieved a lot of pictures by email on bot front and back of head and body. It´s a bitr awkward ofcourse to buy one of these unseen.... But since the last ones I´ve found has either been totally f***ed up, to expensive or the damn brits won´t ship it to Sweden.....
20. Does anybody have any info on this one? I´m thinking about buying but I´m a bit reluctant since I live in Sweden and would be forced to buy it unseen... The owner doesn´t hang around here does he?
21. Well, back from the always so wonderful London! I just went to Denmark street.... I were in Camden but with my wife, the kids, and my parents with me it wasn´t worth the hazzle to go to Bass Gallery. Denmark Street is nothing like it use to be.... I know what you mean now... Back in the days (8-10 years ago) me and my wife went to London 1-2 times a year and always visited Denmark st, and it was pretty fun... Is ANYONE on Denmark St interested in having customers!?!? I think NOT! The only place where someone actually said hello where a small shop wich had an ex. Sid Vicius Precision.... I don´t remember the name of the shop though. The rest was just... terrible... Not that any of them had anything I wanted to buy anyway... Well, it was an blue Yamaha SBV reissue or whatever they´re called, it was really tempting. And then there was a shop that was on the corner who had a basement with and natural G&L 2000. G&L´s doesnt exist here in Sweden... But the rest... help. Bigsmokebass>> Don´t know if that was a joke, but didn´t Bass Centre close their shop a while ago?
22. I´ll just answer you all in the sam post if that´s ok and I don´t have the time right now for quoting you all. TKS webbsite: www.tks.se It´s all in swedish though but you can at least look at the pictures... I have a 212 with orange vinyl, there is a picture of a similar, possibly the sama cab that I bought. His 1x12 is really awesome. I tested my Sunn with 2 of his 1x12 and it played REALLY loud and with good enough low end to satisfy the most of us. JimBOB: Yes, there is a swedish bassforum, www.pratabas.se There´s about 1700 registered there I think and it´s been up for about 3,5 years I think. Welcome top pop in. We had a Bass-weekend in Glanshammar nearby Örebro both this may and may last year and there is going to be one int 2010 as well. Around 60 bassists in one room with around 30 amps and aprx 200 basses in the same place... Really nice!! Berbeque, bassdiscussions, workshops, beer for those who want it.... I´m in Bollnäs, Hälsingland by the way, right in the middle of bandy-land... SteveO: Maybe you should start an scandinavian thread just for us scandinavians?
23. Hello! I don´t know how many swedes there are in here but now there´s one more! I mostly hang out on a Swedish bassforum but there´s always room for another forum! I´ve been playing bass since I was 13, just turned 30, I realize that I´ve been playing for some years now... Ritght now I don´t have many bands, one who plays covers at the local nightclubs (Lady GAGA, Katy Perry, guns n roses and so on, mixing classics with the songs we hear on the hitlists right now) I´m also called upon when there´s a need for a bassplayer so I get to gig/play just a little bit less than I want. Another band would just do it! Have settled pretty good with my gear. My main axe is a refinished '65 OW Precision, refinished -81, pretty much original except the paint and one pot. I also have a '79 Rickenbacker in jetglo, '80 Musicman Stingray, black/maple, A 80´s Greco Thunderbird, '96 Warwick Fortress Masterman 5 and a Fender-mix with a white Aerodyne Jazz-body with black bindings and p-guard and with a 80¨s Jazz Bass Special neck, all black. Amplifiers I have at the moment is a Sunn 300T, Marshall JCM800 2x15 + JCM800 4x12. Thats the main rigg that I`ll keep as long as I live. I also have a Trace Elliot Quatravalve and a 2x12 cabinet built by a guy on the swedish bassforum, his brand is TKS Engineering and he builds really lightweight cabinets with BIG sound and at a low price! My 2x12 weights 21 kilos and costed me around £340 and it´s really in the same league as many of the Aguilars and other stuff priced the double or more.. I also use some effects, Q-tron, a bassmodded TS9 reissue from the 90¨s, an 80¨s DS9 witch is basmodded next week, the DOD Bifet-pedal and some other stuff... It´s mostly the Q-tron and TS9 I use. We´ll se how acitve I have time to be in here, but I´m looking forward to reading what you guys think of bass-stuff, I guess it will not be quite the same as the swedish basists think.... Se ya around! Johan Sweden
