  1. +1 for Jacks Instrument Services, Salford. Just picked up my Retrovibe bass and its exactly how i wanted it. Jack made a new bone nut, fret level and polish (inc sharp ends), full set up (inc electrics clean) and even knocked me up a new TRC from some scraps of scratchplate he had knockin round. Action is briliant, exactly as i wanted as he took time to ask about my playing style and recomended how he thinks it should be set up. Comes with a check-card tag which lists everything that has been done and includes a 2 month guarantee on work. If i want it tweaking within this time its free. Very knowledgeable and had a good chat about various basses n valve amps. Will be taking my pride n joy, my main bass Burns Bison for some new pots soon. That is as much as a recomendation as anyone can get, i wont let most people even TOUCH the bison!
  2. Anyone know what gig-bags will fit these? So far everything ive tried is to thin for the headstock, im assuming ill need a ric one?
  3. Burns Bison Bass - Im still so in love with mine Epiphone Rivoli II - i dream of owning one in cherry red Rickenbacker 4005 - fireglo, my 'Most Wanted' bass 70's Fender P - sunburst/tort/rosewood Hook Hacienda Bass - ltd run made from the floor boards of the hacienda
  4. Im in love with my new rig. Fenderbass man 135 2x15 cab run with a GUITAR valve amp....Sound City 120. Sounds fookin amazin EDIT: Scrap that, i just checked it and it is in fact a B120 which im proper chuffed about, thought it was an L120!
  5. Seen a head thats available in newcastle. I dont really fancy having a valve head posted from there so i may be going picking it up. As such the Hartke could now be available for delivery to any of our northern BC'ers
  6. BUMP If it helps i might be travelling to Newcastle shortly so this along with my Hartke maybe available up there too
  7. Also now on the bay, trying everything i can as the amp i want is nearly finsihing. Its on the bay at £300 with delivery within 20 miles of manc for petrol money. Any BC'ers at all want it get in touch and i may be able to do a deal (maybe £280 and free delivery around manc/north west)
  8. Now up on Gumtree (never tried it so i thought id give it a wirl)
  9. For sale is my aria 12 string acoustic in natural finish. Bought at xmas on a whim and has hardly been used so it needs to go to someone who will get more use out of it. Cost £120 used from PMT in Manchester. Looking for £80 collected from Didsbury, Manchester. Will post pics asap
  10. Final price drop to £300 with delivery possible (let me know your location etc). If its not gone by tommorow eve its goin to the bay

  12. Yes Mark, ive checked the fuses in the sled and they appear to be fine and not blown. I did suspect ive basically got a 3 or 5 amp lead hence the blowing. There was no big POP or anything, just turned it on and it went off again. Will try and get hold of a 13 amp lead. Also as has been suggested ill get the amp checked over as i am selling it so want it to be perfect
  13. I recently sold an old amp and accidently gave away my only power lead with it. I bought what i thought was a similar one off ebay (kettle lead style). It only lasted a few goes before the fuse went (i think) as its a sealed socket it got binned. My old man had a spare power lead from a PC that looked the same, so tried that and the same thing happened. Question is, what power lead should i be using for a HA5500?
  14. Last bump before i try the bay. Really want a valve head thats on there at the mo. Would free dlivery within 20 miles of Manchester sway anybody?
  15. Cab has now arrived in amazing fast time n all i can say is wwwooooooooowwwwww. Its EXACTLY what i wanted, reto looking beast of a doom cab. Tatty tolex but just how i want it to look, like a cab thats worked not a shiny pretty thing. The sound is amazing and i was so surprised at how light it was (for a 2x15 anyway). Anyone looking to do business with Chris in the future should have no worries or concerns
  16. Ok, been advised i might be being a little optimistic with my pricing. I based it purely on new ones on google and the fact mine is like new with original box etc. Ive seen a valve amp on the bay that id love so id consider offers of £320 say?
  17. Just been going thru the finer details over the past few days with Chris regarding a 2x15 cab ive bought of him. Though i dont pick it up until tommorow the guy has been nothing short of fantastic. He tested the cab and realised it wasnt perfect so he changed BOTH speakers, sorted out the wiring AND sorted out a spare conection socket the cab has. In a phone call he went thru exactly what had been done (sounded very tricky and time consuming) but put my mind at ease that im getting a quality, tested and fixed up bass cab. Delivered to my preference and all at a great price (not that you can put a price on confidence when effectively buying oline). Also had a very knowledgable chat with him regarding a few valve heads ive been lokking at, told me what prices i should be expecting to pay etc. All in all a top bloke. Cant wait to get the cab rockin (sorry neighbours haha).
  18. OK, somethings come up on the bay that really fits what im after (not bassman but vintage and valvey all the same). As such this is no longer a feeler and is defo up for sale or trade (again, something valvey, vintage and along the lines of bassman 135) just in case the bay one doesnt come to fruition. Price wise im still open to reasonable suggestions
  19. Cab is on its way type bump. Pics to follow asap
  20. Matching Bassman 2x15 purchased (thanks Thornybank). As mentioned this is a feeler, prices are purely based against new ones i found on google. If people think its unrealistic/more knowledge than me certainly shout up.
  21. Cheers, my only slight concern is it being underpowered at rehearsals. Live i can mic up but im competing against a guitarist with a Slash sig stack. Defo after one tho, GAS is getting to me!. Managed to pretty much secure a matching 2z15 cab on here so fingers crossed i can sell the Hartke
  22. When i say cellophane bag i dont mean like a carrier bag they put the box in haha. I mean inside the box, i still have the cellophane wrapping for around the amp and the polystyrene blocks
  23. This has made me think. I currently use a hybrid Hartke HA5500 (500w) but REALLY want a go at valves. Looked around and now really gassing for a Fender Bassman 135. My only worry is that 135w wont be enough. Sure for a gig i can mic up but at rehearsal im worried that i wont cut through our beast of a drummer and the guitarists marshall slash stack. Do valve watts really sound louder than ss/hybrid?
  24. Now for sale/trade. I do love this amp but currently GASin for sonething vintage and valvey. I have a Hartke HA5500 hybrid amp still with original box and even cellophane bag the amp came in. Gigged twice but DI'd so never really driven. I use it with the tube pre-amp on most of the way and SS pre-amp almost off and get quite close to a good valve tone. Immaculate condition. Googled them and it appears they go for £475 new so thinking around £375-£350. Would connsider anything similar to fender bassman 135 ( vintage valve amps over 100w). Want to guage interest before i up my search for a 135 and wanted to see how far off i am price wise. It will be collection only from Manchester im afraid but could consider delivery for right deal. Let me know your feelings peeps!
