that’s definitely a pickup issue. That E string was very weak in the demo vid. also, what’s the nut width and the string spacing at the bridge? -

Acinonyx is a great little bass. And Carey's design and engineering, and general approach are the best in the biz. (owned three Nordy's and still own two, one of which is my main bass currently) I'd like to snatch a Cat. But the ridiculously narrow nut width is a deal-breaker for me So enjoy it: those, who don't have this issue! I'll envy you from the distance :) -

Has anyone (who owns and plays both) compared a Serek and a Wilcock? Pickups configurations aside, how’s the feel and overall build quality different ? Cheers! -

Time to share my shorties here. Gibson LP DC Tribute and 1973 Fender Musicmaster Bass -
Tried a new V2 Mustang in a Berlin store. The blue one. The stripes are not that bad in person. The bass is well balanced. Liked the neck shape: rather beefy. Sounds well, the tone control is rather useful. Overall quality is nice. However, the A string buzzed like crazy: not enough tension on the nut. A couple of additional loops on the peg would’ve probably solved the issue. Or something like a Fender peg retainer.

Yeah, as mentioned above, the nut width is different. The shape is also technically different: 'C' shape vs 'Modern C' (the latter is a tad slimmer). Also the finish is different: nitro vs urethane. So, for you they may feel the same but, given my previous experience, I'd probably perceive them as two rather different animals (nut width being the most important difference for me). Thanks for clarifying! -

Congrats! Looks great. Why do you call it a JMJ neck? The specs are entirely different. -

You've probably seen it on the other forum. I'll upload pictures once I'll locate them. -

I've just got a response from Ashdown. Nut width 38mm. Hard pass. -

Thanks everyone! I guess there’s no escape from a JMJ in my future. Ticks all the boxes: nut width and fb radius, rw board, better (wider, fuller) pickup, distressed nitro, daphne blue (!). Meanwhile, my go-to shortie is Gibson LPDC Tribute. Well modded. -
This. Also, those stripes make Mustang body look even smaller and even more disbalanced, compared to the headstock.

I've sent an info request to clarify some details. No reply so far. -
Don't like the stripes. That's probably a good thing, given the price increase

Did anyone try the new shortscale bass from Ashdown? Here's the link. Apparently, it's in its early stages. The info on their site is lacking. Body wood unknown, no full specs, pictures show 20 frets instead of 19 etc. -
An interesting topic. I consider myself an introvert too, sometimes behaving like an extravert. It largely depends on my energy level. And here's the thing: if the gig is good, then you're not only sharing your energy, but also receiving a lot from the audience too. And the better the gig - the stronger the flow. So that means a gig should be really good. Otherwise think of it as just another rehearsal with your bandmates when you're getting paid!

Thanks! Yeah, maybe a Vista. I'll pass on a Bronco: need good wood and RW neck with a nice nut width to start with. There are still plenty of abused MM basses (with their value lost for good) out there though. -

Lovely bass! I've been toying with this idea of putting a TB pickup into a Fender shortie. Got a leftover humbucker from Gibson LPDC Tribute bass. Fully repackaged into a nickel cover, nickel baseplate and with a nickel ring. Just don't want to ruin a Mustang bass: the model I like (JMJ) is good as-is. Perhaps, I could find an old and previously abused MusicMaster. Not sure if a TB pickup (plus a ring) would fit the smaller pickguard footprint. Something to think about.
