1. OK!

This might seem like a wierd question but does anyone use DEADG on a 5 string?
I dont like a low B dont find it useful in any way shape or form so I have this idea in my head to tune DEADG giving me a D for drop D songs and also I would then also be able to play octaves on the A from it which I like the idea of.

If this has any big problems I'll tune it to EADGC as I would rather have a high C than a low B anyday

Just wondered if anyone else does this or due to my previously mentioned lack of theory im missing something obvious to you guys!

2. I have been playing about 8 years and embarssingly still have no grasp of theory. I would call myself a competent bassist, if someone tells me string and fret to start on I can go from there but -

If someone says blues in E I just stare blankly and strangely as I have got older rather than feeling all punk rock about it and not caring about notes and boring scales I suddenly feel more ashamed!

Can anyone recommend the following -

A FREE website with clear basic guides of notes on the fingerboard, scales etc
A cheap book or even one your willing to send on for postage costs

I dont want to read music or write it or be an expert on this just want the roots of it all so when the next person says; blues in E I can do it!

3.
Things like Jedsons & Zentas where you used to cut your fingers on the bridge adjustment screws & the fret ends & you could never set the intonation on them or keep them in tune. Now those same Jedsons & Zentas are increasing in price - madness.
+1

Its like those airline guitar. They were renowned as being poor quality garbage that they couldnt even sell
Now they are worth big money!?!?
Sense - this makes none!

We have an old Antoria LP at home that me dad had as a boy. And its fairly poor but the stories my dad told me about the crap he could of bought instead at the time it makes me apreciate my Washburn XB120 I started on/

4.
Er what does that mean?
Why should the store need to "get away with" a bigger discount?
Nothing wrong with a discount but sometimes you feel its more that they are bored of looking at it and by marking it as 'ex demo' it alows them to go lower than others just to shift it.

Please don't take offence, nothing wrong with retailers knocking a bit off but strikes me that using ex demo is not a great way of doing it

And anyway my point is more about the terminology than trying to cause debate about discount culture in modern MI stores.
Ill edit my first post accordingly

5. Im confused.

I often see basses and guitars for sale with ex-demo or ex-display on them and a bit of a discount.

Surely any instrument thats been in a store is ex demo!
Maybe some of the big stores like GAK have one on the floor and a couple out back but almost every guitar ever is ex demo! at least ex display!

6.
Oh, and to add- I already have:

- 2x Mics
- Some XLR cables
- 2x Mic stands
I have made a rough list

Ill post the final one tomorrow
Its becoming more of a challenge than anticipated

7.
Let me know if you do end up selling, please.
You back after a 5?

Also nice rig, I had Mex jazz in Midnight wine which I sold, I often think that if it had been in that colour (Blue Agave I think) I would of kept it.

I think thats a pre-upgrade because they didn't offer that colour on the newer models and if so there is one thing to look out for, myself and 3 other people I know who had Standard Jazz basses all had our E string bridge saddle collapse after 12/18 months.
If you can afford it change the stock bridge for a Badass II.

Just my 2p's

8. One of my bands went through a suits stage but its just too hot!

Then it was black shirts with jeans, it was simple but worked, our trumpet player always wore a white tie and noone else did, looked good in pix as was just enough difference not for the whole thing to look boring

9. I have my AKG wireless racked into my case under my MarkBass head at the moment with a half width blanking panel next to it.

Anyone know of a bass effect that takes up 1U rack space half width?

I just want something in there!

Im good for EQ, Distortion and Modulation. Maybe compressor, Reverb or something would be nice
I cant find anything!

10. Not entirely sure tbh mate.

But I know theres quite a bit following for the older Aria Pro II's

Like I said im not much of a fan/expert on them but some people really dig the older Aria stuff

EDIT -

Just did some research seems these aren't held in much regard.
Maybe someone interested though
