1.
It's great to see something different from the norm without being too left field
Thats one of the reasons im GASing for it bit by bit, I want something a bit outlandish
    But not stupid.

Not much fits in the slot.

  2. I think thats the smart option, not the 75' particularly but something bit rare.

    I have a CIJ 57 reissue P which I love to bits.

My list is thus far -

    Jazz 5
    Jaguar bass
62' P in orange (Always wanted an orange bass!)
    Or the 75' of course

  3.
But do you fit in your Fiat Punto with it!? :)
I do! Just!

I can fit - 2 people, 8x10, my rack case, bass, pedal board, guitar, Fender hot rod combo, guitarist pedal board and bag in without too much trouble.
First time was a pain in the arse but know I know the pattern its fairly simple

  4. Brass players are a funny old breed.

We had one in my ska band a trumpet player. He had never heard Ska till he joined us all Jazz and stuff.

Which kinda worked for the best, I think because he was learning a brand new style he practiced a lot and it came together.

I dont know what to suggest, make childish jokes about valve lubricant and playing with their horn, im not sure it will help but it will make you feel better.

  5. Long story short, I have a friend who lives in Japan and is coming back to UK for a fortnight in a few months.
He knows of a guitar store that can get any left handed CIJ Fenders and has offered to bring one into UK for me providing I pay any relevant fee's etc.

That 5 is what I am GASing for at the moment, I have never even seen one in UK before..

Big risk but I figure I can sell it on almost instantly if we dont get on.

Input needed before my bank manager has another reason to work late.
  6.
Sod the taxman, at sea he'll never find me, it's the gf I should be worrying about.
:)

+1 on the purchase buddy, personally I think the Big Al is bonkers. Im still struggleing to get over the fact it's name is that same as that Allasaurus from Walking with Dinosaurs!

Not at all my cup of tea but I find myself gradually GASing for one!

  7. I'm currently using a Danelectro honeytone with a pair of active Behringer monitors plugged into the headphone out........

But off to MusikMesse next week so a decision can finally be made between a Promethean, Phill Jones and Markbass Mini 121.

Having said all that I'll probably end up with an Orange Crush 50 as I just can't justify the cost of the others at the moment.

  8.
What's the worst in your collection?

I'm going to fess up my cock-up project, I'll get it out the loft and photograph it in the morning....
Oh God im going to have to get a picture of the Washburn after the throwing in the air incident....

  9.
Not totally relevant to the OP - but I thought you might be interested in seeing that, on my Fender Power Jazz Bass Special (1989) the P pup is actually the 'wrong way round' in comparison to 'normal' P basses!
In my eyes that is the right way round. I prefer a revered P p/up gives far better highs

  10.
For 500 people, I'd suggest that subs would be essential (assuming you're playing rock-ish stuff, and hope to put bass & kick drum through it?), and that your system should be able to deliver 100dB to the first 20 feet in front of the band.

    HTH.

    Mark
I disagree, there is a difference between dB and audibility. Something that projects well can be worth far more than something thats just very loud.

Your JRX subs are a prime example, I use the exact same ones (only with Eon Tops) frankly in a testing room I was not impressed. Far too much low end. No clarity and a distinct bass rumble.

However first time I took them out (running only 200W) I was blown away not a case of huge volume but the way they move the air add's the right depth.

Having said all that and read your post a couple of times I think as with all PA threads I ever join on any website no way is the right way. So many people use different ideas and have different theories its hard to judge.

  11.
The Thomann setup is exactly what I was looking at for setting up a rehearsal room, though.

I'm assuming it would beat one of those Yamaha stagepass or Fender Passport thingies hands down?(Sorry for the hijack!)
by a long bloody way!

  12. ok I'll join in!
