Couldn’t find fishing weight but it’s around 10lbs and a much needed diet according to my bathroom scales.

Arrived this morning! Lovely bass and that buttery maple neck is gorgeous! only had a quick run through plugging into my computer and recording a line for the track I’m doing but it’s an instant improvement on my mex std jazz.

I also said to her yesterday, should I save up and just buy a really good bass. she said no. buy that one. You have adhd. You’ll want one that does some other thing in 3 months. 🤣🤣

My tele is in every measurable way better than my duo. It’s just…I LOVE playing my duo. The duo isn’t a better guitar, in fact the wiring is atrocious and really needs sorted. I tested out a player mustang at the same time. It was gorgeous and really looked a far more expensive guitar. Certainly is was a bargain at the £400 they were asking. I asked my mrs what she thought. She said the mustang looked like a better guitar, but I’d spent twice as long playing the duo and I just zone out with it. ‘You have more fun on that one.’ I’m kinda hearing this theme a lot. I do wonder if it’s a kind of I can relax with this instrument without thinking wow it costs how much??!!!

To answer the question. He just grooved man.

This is a sentiment I’m seeing a lot more often nowadays. I have a 90s US telecaster and a mex duo sonic ss and tbh I think I’ve played and loved playing the duo more than any other guitar I’ve owned. The tele doesn’t get a look in.

Having looked at the site the sunburst appears to be only on the front. Yet on other sites it’s on both sides. I know it’s daft but I really like it on both sides.

Yeah, most of the photos really look green. I’ve got a blue metallic guitar already.

Having been out the game for a fair few years with kids n stuff but going back to ‘95 I am astounded at what you get for your money nowadays. I bought the mrs a HB precision lefty and wow. Absolutely minimal set up needed out the box! I think I’m going to buy one. At that price I can’t see what’s not to like.

£300 in the sale. I’m in 2 minds due to online reviews questioning QC. Anyone got one? Had one? Really don’t know if I should but the bullet. Been looking for a P bass for months and this might scratch the itch.

Silvia mentioned an Ibanez above. The mikro has been a bass that’s came up a lot over last 3 months in all I’m reading and I keep meaning to look but forget. It also doesn’t get flung up on the selling part of my google feeds. I did see a really nice Ibanez on here going cheap but it’s nowhere near me. I quite fancy getting myself a micro. after picking up a duo sonic, i love it more than any guitar I’ve had. So I’m in two minds about getting myself a shorty. I’m not snobby about shorty’s. If I had my choice of any bass it would be a musicmaster or mustang (yeah I know, but offsets appeal to my wonkyness.) I’ve been playing 25 years and just always stuck to my jazz or mm. I don’t know what my fear is. anyway, sorry I digress. I bought her the Harley Benton p bass. If she doesn’t get with the feel of it, then I can return it and try something else. The reviews are good, it’s meant to be light and I’ve got odd bits kicking around to upgrade it if need be. cheers guys. I’ll let you know how she gets on.

You could save the file in the daw, create a copy file and edit all the bassnotes in that copy to be bang on and do a comparison. Id think the original would sound better, like others have said if everything is ‘perfect’ it’s a little boring.

For me, I’m not really good at separating the art from the artist thing. Mostly cos, I mean R. Kelly really was the worlds greatest!!! 🤣🤣 Seriously though, I think people are quite happy to dump on R Kelly but if they really like the artist then it’s a different story. Selective outrage…no joke my wife’s just put on Chris rocks new video and he literally talks about this. I’m freaked out now 🤣🤣 Anyway, I loved Ryan Adams but after the stories about him, the lyrics don’t read the same way. I can’t enjoy it the same way.

Thanks for all the input guys I really appreciate it. I decided to show her some basses and ask her what she liked the look of. What bass can she see herself actually playing. Next step is getting her to hold it and see if it’s comfortable like Silvia says. Ironically she’s picked out mostly P bass styles. I have a feeling we might end up with a shorty. We have a 5 year old and a 3 year old and they are both lefty! So it might be an idea getting something they will eventually hit as well. This is a way to spend time together when we get very little. we spent an our looking at basses last night after she watched me fit a new bridge to my mim jazz. Which tbh is possibly the best hour of the week. anyway I digress, but thanks for all the input. 🙌

I was just meaning I’d flip the guitar to upside down. I think the violin is probably the best best and just reverse the nut. although I’ve just looked and there is a hofner lefty for £300 so I might put that to her and see what she thinks. worse comes to worse, I play that upside down 🤣 Cheers guys.
