3. Interesting thoughts everyone, thanks for taking the time.
Seems like we've gone off on a bit of a tangent - become more of a discussion on the pros and cons of feedback....
I think my idea was that anyone who felt that some critique would be helpful could maybe get that by using this forum, maybe one or two have... Ideally it would all be very friendly, after all we're all coming from the same place (next to the drum kit usually!). So even if someone turns up and says "decent but keep practicing" or "that was simply awesome" then at least you have a bass player who's there to see you giving an honest but constructive comment or two. This isn't about destroying confidence or getting one-up on each other. When I was studying I always wished that my bass teacher would come and check out a gig so he could tell me about how to be a better rhythm section player rather than a solo player.
Personally its been a while since anyone's given me a good hauling over the coals - if anyone fancies a free pint or two on a Friday in Glasgow the offers still there. I'd appreciate it even though others might not, each to their own.
Cheers everyone, hope someone out there's found this useful.
Cammy

4. Just something I've been thinking about for a while:

How about a feedback network, maybe organised by area, where you attend someone's gig (guestlist maybe?) and afterwards have a pint and a friendly + constructive feedback of the performance?
While it's all very well playing several times week in, week out, and getting the (usually) drunk or unimaginative feedback of "that was brilliant" or something similar, it would be nice to have some thoughtful feedback from knowledgable bass players in the audience. We're all learning and that never stops so why not help each other out?!
Might be best to put up gigs on this topic, then if anyone's available or interested then PM each other, to avoid this getting cluttered and confusing. Or set up different ones for each area?
I'll start - I live in Glasgow and play every Friday night in the Butterfly and Pig on Bath st with my band The Fortunate Sons (www.fortunatesons.co.uk) between 8-9.30. Playing covers and original material. No entry fee its a pub so I'll buy you a pint!

Hope this catches on.

5. Hi everyone.
I've had it about 2 years and played it a fair bit on gigs but unfortunately it just has too many frets for my hands.
I've played this bass on many sessions and shows, as well as countless gigs and it does everything - as you'd expect from an Overwater. It was recently set up by Chris May at the Overwater shop and is in almost perfect condition (1 very small mark on the reverse - first pic, to the left of the screw, barely noticable...).
Spec is as standard for the model but I'll include them anyway:
35" scale
5 strings (currently strung with LaBella slappers)
Body is walnut with burled maple overlay
controls are volume, blend, bass, mid, treble
Hipshot chrome hardware

I am based in Glasgow, but i'll post (£30 approx.) or don't mind travelling to a midpoint or somewhere agreeable. I'll supply it with a hardcase (lockable) too.

Thanks for looking, any questions please don't hesitate,
Cheers,
Cameron
edit: now included trades due to lack of interest, not too fussy as I'll most likely sell it on as I need the cash more than a new instrument. So preferably 4 string and not too weird and wonderful!
AND NOW ONLY £900!

6. Hi there, I'm selling my very new, little used hollowbody Ibanez.

Condition is excellent except for one small mark (see image) which is hardly noticable from any reasonable distance, also usually covered by right aarm when playing, so only a very small cosmetic thing.

I'll supply it with am as new Fender tweed case (one of the only soft cases it fits in), a used rotosound felt strap, and the original D'Addario roudwound strings - I've put brand new Rotosound flats on it.

A great little short scale vintage style bass, not the most flexible instrument but great for what it does - mainly old school soul, blues, jazz and R n B - has an old P bass vibe to it at times.

Only selling due to an endorsement with another company. Full spec & info here: AGB200 spec
its the transparent brown finish not ivory.

Questions welcome, looking for £290 as its so new & and includes extras it didn't come with.

Cheers,
Cameron

7. Hi there, the clearout continues with my Behringer Tube Ultragian t1953.

Part of the now discontinued Vintager line, this is a 2-channel tube preamp. Both line + mic level signals accepted (jack + XLR) on both channels, which are identical. An affordable way of adding tube sound to 2 inputs at once, live or studio.

Full details on the Behringer site here: t1953 details

Supplied with power cable, in the original box with polystyrene padding. No manual came with it, its such a simple unit to control.
Used in smoke free environments, always within a rack, so apart from slight screw marks the unit is pristine. I could try to rustle up some photos if anyone really wants them...

As always any questions more than welcome,

Cheers,
Cameron

8. Hi there, have to part with my fairly well used Penta unfortunately, has been a trusty companion on tour and in the studio.
An easy to use and versatile rack mount compressor, in very good comdition apart from 1 scratch across the front panel - while only cosmetic is quite prominent (see image).

Full user guide + spec available here: penta user guide

Fully operational, great features that are bass-friendly, such as tube emulation. Comes with power cable.

Looking for £80 + P&P, although offers will be considered.

Cheers, any questions welcome too,
Cameron
