Quintessential. In my world that is what would accompany any dictionary definition of "bass guitar"

Ah, the things we do from the heart instead of the head are the good stuff. It's a great story and you'll love it when it's done and then you'll pass it on to someone else who will understand how rare and wonderful it is.
Having seen the picture of the stain (I'd only seen the solid colour) it's definitely the bokote for me.
Looking forward to further updates.

The first one is a lovely bit of wood but if you've got that kind of electric blue body (assuming what I found on Google for aniline blue washburn is accurate) the bokote might work better as it's not so busy

Beautiful bass. Those pickups are so gnarly looking - the equivalent of some 14 hole cherry red docs.

All very good to hear dude.
What's the specs of the new one?
4 string recurve. 33 inch scale with a PB and RFB pickup combo and the uni pre. Nothing outlandish. A 50th present to myself.

I thought you would never sell an ACG Ewan.. Selling any 34" 5 string Uber specs ?
Ewan sold an ACG to me last year, and very happy I am with it, too.
It's led me down the path of no return, mind you, because then I bought another ACG on here and now I have ordered one from Alan. ACG: the Pringles of bass!

No worries, sorted one out elsewhere. Hope you end up liking it and keeping it!

Hi. Still available?

Hi.
Is this still available?

If I hadn't been hit with a completely unexpected bill for almost exactly 800 quid this morning I'd have been beating a path to your door for this. Good luck with the sale - someone is going to get a fantastic and unique bass!

Cheers! Its based on a Precision neck, 9.5 radius and a 43mm nut width if I remember correctly. Can always check tomorrow as Im away tonight.
Oof! I was hoping you'd say it was skinny so I could stop drooling over it.

Bought a very nice P neck from Frank - so I could do the 'proper' PJ combo of J body and P neck! Good price, very easy to deal with, top man overall. Thanks.

I bought Tom's absolutely cracking ACG Skelf. Lovely guy to do business with, did a fantastic job of packing it up for couriering and communication in general and was genuinely interested in how I got on with it. Can't recommend him highly enough. Cheers Tom!

Looks like a great bass for that money! What's the neck profile and the nut width?

@Grooverjr is looking for one of these.
Thanks @Berserker. Will PM you @Rollin Thunder

Very cool. Great colour. Looks nicer than the Attitude IMO.

Gorgeous. That 'dirty birdseye' looks so much better than it sounds! And with an ACG you know it will be a joy to play. For that price someone is going to get a hell of an instrument.

That's very cool. Maybe you can get the same paint job on one of your P basses? GLWTS

Does Brian count as an extra band member for payment purposes?

Blimey, you could shave in that it's so clean! Black on black with maple is indeed a lovely colour scheme for a Fender. GLWTS

That's a very nice looker.
I have a similar story with my Squier Jazz that was my bass when I was a teenager. I stopped playing completely for around 25 years (life got in the way) and it sat in my grandparents' loft. I picked it up again during the pandemic and that's what restarted my playing. It's a mid 80s MIJ so would probably be worth a bit (if I removed the poster paint 'art' on the body) and I rarely play it but I could never sell it unless I was incredibly desparate. Just knowing it is there reminds me of the old days practicing in my mate's garage, getting fake IDs so we could play in pubs, dreaming of one day getting into Kerrang or Metal Hammer.
I get your point and it's lovely that you want someone to play it but it's very grown up and I think irrational attachments to things from the past are a big part of what keeps us sane. Good luck to you if you're sure you won't regret it and whoever does end up with it will hopefully get 20 years of playing from it.

They're the models I was trying to remember.
Get that bridge sorted and you'll have a first class bass.
I wish I had mine back, but I caught a glimpse of it and it hadn't been looked after that well.
However, your SR looks great looks great 👍
Thanks. All this love for them makes me want to get it sorted and then give it another go before deciding to part with it.

What a cracker. Colour match silks as well for the finishing touch. Lucky for me I am a very long way from Whitley Bay!
