2.
davy lad you are going to piss in your chips here mate. we all get a bargain her and there but to to offer it up on the same forum for a much higher price is a plain piss take and as said is not in the free! forum vain of use. you will only eventually alienate yourself from the usual members as this isnt ebay with a massive throughput of customers. i think you know you have boobed mate. you should be here to better yourself as a bass player or collector not make money. that said £600 was a steal but at least bung it on the bay and not wave it in peoples faces. meant respectfully dave. ad
hi adam matey by forum rules ive done nothing wrong people dont have to buy it
 3.
Don't you mean how would you make money?
ive withdrawn it i hope your happy
 4.
Dave, when I was selling my Alembic I received an offer for £750 collected and my asking price was £600 (which I had paid for it about 5 months previously on the boards). £750 is a good price for a Bongo but £600 is an outrageous price and you've been very fortunate; however Slaptone would have liked more as I doubt the £600 he got for it covered his outgoing expenses. As has been said, this is very much a community-centric forum here where sales are based on trust and mutual respect. I think it's generally considered good form amoung the majority of users to "pay forward" your good fortune here by not making a blatant attempt at flipping a bass for considerably more than you paid for it. As someone said in another thread, prices here are very cheap, generally well below Ebay and high street used prices. We've achieved this by selling our gear at reasonable prices on to other forum members. There have been raised eyebrows in the past about people selling gear on for more than they paid for it, and given long term fluctuations in value this is probably seen as more acceptable than this quick flip. At the moment Dave, this looks like you've bought a bass with no interest in it as an instrument, just an investment for a quick profit. You and Slaptone live relatively close, south of the Tyne. It looks as though you've swooped in when you saw another forum user in need and now you're taking advantage of that by trying to turn a profit on a bass you're not interested in. From the chats we've had both on the forum and via PM you seem like a decent bloke Dave, but don't be surprised that a few users here are finding this all a bit "bad taste".
its not my fault i got it cheaper than usual as dave wanted a sax it was on here for a long time for anyone to buy it they had the choice the same as me if i sell everything at the same price as i payed how would i better myself
 5.
aye but nobody is offering you 750notes, you are touting for 750!
i wished i didnt put it on,ive been offered £800 from a shop and it looks like thats where it will end up,i always try to make a profit thats how it is its pointless breaking even i cant believe these conversations are over nothing thanks
 6.
Dave, I don't think anyone is disputing that someone may have gotten an alright deal on a B-Quad (another one sold here for the same price a few months ago when the market was a bit better IIRC). I think it's the way that you're going about this profiteering you're doing here, and it does seem a tad distasteful especially since you got a very good deal from another forum user and a local lad who was in a bit of a jam.
so chris just say u bought a bass for £600 and someone offered u £750 would u accept it, now be honest mate, but even at £750 its still worth that or i wouldnt put it up for that now thats disrespectful if it wasnt worth the money but it is cheers anyway
 7.
First off, I didn't miss a good bargain. I have a bongo and I am not in the market for another. Secondly, I'm sure the folk on basschat will agree that this kind of business attitude just stinks!!
i cant believe your saying all this but youve got your opinion but a few quid more, ive just sold a bb4 for £650 when i was offered more but i said he could have it just ask alan if he got a good bargain thx
 8.
Your in the wrong forum if that's your view.
i would sell it as its worth £750 all day long you missed a good bargain if i didnt make anything how will i progress its worth that money anyway and i dont understand your saying this do u not want me sell it at a profit
 9.
obviously i want to make a profit thats the name of the game so nobody should be put off if your interested its worth that and more thanks
i cant believe your saying this go no further i got offered £750 for my bb4 but i promised a lad it for £650 so it works both ways as he got it for £650,it was advertised for anyone to buy so i saw the potential and bought it but everyone had the opportunity thanks
 10.
I'm looking for one quite seriously but I wouldn't buy this on principle, and I suspect not many others would. Good luck with the sale.
obviously i want to make a profit thats the name of the game so nobody should be put off if your interested its worth that and more thanks
 11.
I still think a 150buck flip so quickly is a bit cheeky. However as its now your bass its yours to do with as you see fit. Would it not be the done thing to sell it on at the price you bought it for seeing your re-selling it on the site you purchased it from only 6 days ago.
thanks for your comments but obviously i want to make a profit because its a cracking bass if i can get £750 its better than what i paid for it because the bass is worth it all day long cheers davy
 12.
I've always felt they were a bit shoddy, I remember playing one when they were brand new at Sound Control Newcastle, and I've played a few since then and they've never impressed me. They look and feel a bit cheap and the fretwork isn't fantastic, the woodwork on the necks was rough and the maple there was noticeably a cheap piece. The sound was always flat and uninspired, even with new strings. I couldn't really figure out why they had been allowed to come out so shoddy, but they feel like cheap old Squier basses tarted up in Fender colours. They are certainly no match for an S3000, or if you're really wanting a Fender type bass, a good CIJ jazz.
Thats my old bass its a little cracker its clean as a whistle good luck rob
 13.
The bass is a one-off Overwater Progress Three Custom Deluxe. It was delivered in April last year (2009) and is almost unplayed - it is entirely as new - indeed, apart from a professional set up with Overwater, it is as it left the workshop - it even smells new. I can't emphasise just how gorgeous this bass is. Just a few features: (Surprisingly) Lightweight central American mahogany body Burl poplar facings (with black accent) Maple and purpleheart neck Birds-eye maple fingerboard Pickup covers in burl poplar Kent Armstrong (designed for Overwater) pickups Overwater 3 band EQ Abalone dots Abalone logo inlay Burl poplar facing on head The bass plays beautifully and sounds superb - Overwaters are the choice of a lot of UK session players (they're so playable and versatile). This one really looks a bit special and comes in a Hiscox liteflite case. Original price was just over £2650 (now it would be £2790. It is on the Overwater web site under custom builds if you want to see some more pics. it's a 35" scale bass, with a long upper horn and bridge very near the edge of the body --> not much of a reach at all! Neck dimensions: width @ nut: 59 mm width @ 12th fret: 85 mm depth @ 1st fret 23 mm depth @ 12th fret 23,5 As I am not playing the jazz gigs that justified owning this beautiful instrument anymore, I am now looking for a straight trade or a trade UP (ie I pay some cash) for the following instruments (5 Strings only) Exotic USA Sadowsky Aleva Coppola Fodera Skjold F bass Dingwall Roscoe Other exotic basses along these lines - PM's only - Don't really want a public discussion of "Great bass - If only I had the money etc" sorry. No lower value basses, 4's or 6's considered - Loads more pics available on request.
lovely bass mate i bet it sounds cush, good luck anyway

 15.
just imo but there's plenty of tonal variation in the 2 humbuckers and 4 band EQ and tbh I find the Bongo has too much on offer after playing my single H Stingray 5. The action on the 3 Bongos I've owned has always been lower than I can get on other basses making them slaptastic. The tone is just huge and much more hi-fi than of my other basses, and I couldn't be without it for recording . My one is a sapphire black 5HH and every second Bongo seems to be that finish. I've changed my opinion in the last few months and like them more now in the brighter colours like this one.
if u get a bongo it has to be in a loud colour thats my opinion ive got the same opinion as yourself CHEERS MATE
 16.
Do people ever use the coil splitting options though? I have two RFB pickups in my ACG Harlot singlecut, which are the "Musicman" style design pickups from ACG. The bass also has coil splitting and phase switches (or something like that, two little flip switches that alter the tone). I never use these, as the bass sounds best with them left neutral!
BUMP please
