1. I brought this second hand, but honestly its like new. It did not come with any allen keys though. Nothing is rounded off. I have no idea how I'm going to sort this.
2. Hey This thing is like brand new and looks to have never been touched/set up. Nothing is rounded off. 1/16 will not fit in it its too big. Does anyone know what allen key is in between 1/16 and 5/64? Otherwise I'm guessing I'm looking for a 1.4 (if either of these things exist) TA
3. Fender 70s Jazz Bass Made in Mexico 2008 Saddle Allen Key size? Hey There Just purchased a second hand 2008 Made in Mexico 70s Fender Jazz Bass for a wicked price like this http://www.andertons.co.uk/Products/i/xl__0132000300.jpg I brought a 30 piece metric & imperial allen key set and I've adjusted the bullet truss rod with a 1/8 allen key But none of the allen keys fit the saddles. Its slightly larger than 1/16 but not as big as 5/64 Its slightly larger than 1.3 but slightly smaller than 1.5 Does anyone know the exact size imperial allen key as I'm going to have to order a separate one. Thanks!
4. Hey Guys Does anyone know if an 8ohm running at 500w bass amp head exists? I have a 4x10 Ampeg SVT410HE that I need a new amp head for. I'm sick to death of my ASHDOWN 500w head breaking down on me. To be honest I'm not all that great with ohms etc, no matter how many times its explained to me. The rear of the Ampeg cab states:- 8ohms 500w So I want (if it exists) a 500w head at 8ohms, and would that be suitable for my Ampeg cab? Any ideas? cheers Shippo
5. My VU meter on mine keeps breaking. Currently it lights up but the needle will not move. £30 including P&P for a new one from Ashdown. Hmm, is it really worth it though? You know when your driving your rig hard! Shippo
6. Hey All Does anyone know anyone that sells removable castors for an AMPEG SVT-410HE cab? I need them to be removable so that when I sit the cab on top of another cab or on beer crates when gigging its nice and safe and secure. I dont want to have to carry around a trolley or anything else as I already hump enough gear around. Any ideas? Thanks Shippo
7. Sod it, theyre just too darned expensive. I brought two "Italia" soft cases off Ebay for £9 each including next day delivery. They fit a precision ok, but not a hagstrom 8 string, nor a BC rich mockingbird, but I did some jiggling around with other bases and everything is now cased up. You can close this post if you wish now. Thanks Shippo
8. Unless you are Spiderman or own a crane there is no way you could gain access to my outside area, so insurance is not a problem. Even though, my stuff is insured anyway. I dont want to have to pay to store my equipment in a storage type warehouse as its used 2-3 times a week, so it would be a lot easier to have it on site at my property. Please no more suggestions stating that I store it elsewhere as that isn't a viable option. Any suggestions with regards to keeping it in a shed with climate variations? Thanks Shippo
9. Hi All I've run out of space in my small apartment for equipment storage, but luckily I have an area outside that is safe where I can put a shed or storage unit of sorts. I need to be able to store my amp, cabs and guitars in there but was looking for some suggestions of how to store them so the weather doesn't affect them or f@ck up the electronics. I know this isn't the best situation, but there is really no space inside anymore. In worst case scenarios it'd be going from cold, wet, damp, frozen days in the winter to boiling hot, sweaty days in the summer (yes it does get like this in UK sometimes). I also need to be able to get hold of the equipment easily for gigs and rehearsals. Any suggestions? Thanks Shippo UK
10. Hey Anyone got any ideas where I can buy a double gig bag from that I can fit two bases into? And I'm not talking stupid money like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEVYS-DOUBLE-GIG-BAG...=item1e59b9d33e Yes, I know I could just use two seperate gig bags, but I prefer to use the one, and yes i know I could just stick two together myself, but I dont want to, so no stupid comments along these lines please thanks Shippo
11. Hey Bassist available here! I’m 33, and have been playing for around 18 years in various different bands. I’m looking for a tribute or covers band and can handle any bass style. I listen to and play many different styles of music and just want to get out and play more. I’m looking for paying work and to be gigging a minimum of once or twice a week. I have some nice pro gear, my own transport and am available to rehearse most days and nights. I need to find like minded musicians who want to work and are not just doing it “for fun”. Sure we can have some fun along the way, but I want this to supplement my income! Whether it be a standard covers band performing various artists works or a tribute to one specific act I’m not fussed and am willing to dress up accordingly. I’m not too worried about what type of material the band plays whether it be rock/pop etc, but no original material or soul/funk/reggae bands please. No alcoholics, nightmare girlfriends, drug takers etc just semi-pro/pro musicians who take it seriously please. I’m based in central Birmingham, but don’t mind finding a band anywhere in the Midlands or Staffordshire way, but possibly even further if the moneys right! Post me a reply, or PM me, or Drop me an email on [email protected] Or give me a call on 07812 595085 Thanks Shippo
12. Midlands Drummer and Bass player both in early 30’s with many many years of experience available for any type of paid tribute band. Preferably you will already be an up and running established band with gigs booked and will be raring to go so we can slot in easily. Any style/genre considered whether its based on one band or multiple bands. Casual or specific image/look also not a problem as we’re willing to dress up or down to please you and your audience. We are proficient musicians with the skills to turn our hands to most styles with a professional attitude, professional equipment and own transport. We’re in this for the money and the love of wanting to play live music to an audience that appreciates it. We always treat gigs and rehearsals in a professional manner so no unpaid/unprofessional work please. Call Paul on 07812 595085 [email protected]
13.
What do you want your two necks for? Fretted and fretless? 4- and 8-string? different tunings? The two necks on that Tobias look the same so I'd assuming it's either different tunings although knowing Spinal Tap it could just be for the pose!
Because they look awesome and I've always wanted one. 4 and 8 would be the best option otherwise 4 and 4 tuned differently. cheers Shippo
14.
definitely a tobias dude
Nice one. So anyone know of any other (available) double neck bass (only) guitars? thanks Shippo
15. Hey All Anyone know who made / what brand Derek Smalls Double Neck Dollar Sign Bass was from Return Of Spinal Tap? I'm looking for a double necker (obviously there's no way I'm ever gonna find this one), but it just got me wondering abot the above. There is little to no info online about it. Any ideas on any double neck bass ideas too? I mean with 2 basses on it, I dont want one thats part normal 6 string guitar. cheers Shippo
16.
The one you've attached a link to isn't "a lovely expensive neck through model", it's just one of the import lines. As such I'd have no qualms about hacking it to bits. Refinishing a 70s Short horn Mockingbird - now THAT would be sacrilegious!
Hi As far as I'm aware this is the ONLY type of Mockingbird bass you can currently buy new and I wouldnt want to refinish a brand new guitar, that would just be crazy! Not to worry though I now have the logo I needed through searching the internet and have just redrawn it as a vector image. I'll host an copy of the logo here when its perfect for anyone to use. Thanks for all your help everyone Shippo
17.
If you were that anal about the logo then you would have at least gone out and got a Neck thru. Very few BCRS from that era were bolt on. I agree with Lorne on this one.
Hi Shockwave, Thanks for your comments , but in my mind I thought it better to refinish a cheap BC Rich to make it look the way I NEED it to look than to B*STARDISE a lovely expensive through neck model. Don't you think this makes sense? Why would you refinish something that looks like this? http://www.giggear.co.uk/p/BC-Rich-Mocking...e-Classic-Bass/ Surely that would be sacrilegious? Once again thanking you for your continued support. Shippo
18. Hey It aint going up for sale, its going to be used live on stage in a tribute band that I am being so anal about I really do care what the logo is on the headstock and also to respray the bass as well (If only all bassists in tribute bands were this into the stage show!) If someone has a late 70's early 80's black mockingbird vintage handcrafted bass they would like to donate or sell me for next to nothing then I'll gladly play that on stage instead, but while I cant find one this is the only solution. Unless anyone has another idea? Thanks for your continued assistance. Regards Shippo
19. Hey Its just a 2003 Korean with a bolt on neck. but that dont really make much difference, it'll look a lot better when its been "Retrofied" up a bit. Thanks Shippo
20.
Why? And also,what year,there are several "R's"
Hi again Lorne! I finally managed to get myself a cheap Mockingbird (for reasons we discussed that I would like to remain hush-hush for the moment) that needs spraying a different colour and vintagefying up until I can get the exact Eagle or Mockingbird that I need. It would be the nearest thing to the logo off an 84 (or very late 70's early eighties) handcrafted edition. If you can help then that would be great as I know you have plenty of vintage BCs. thanks Shippo
21. hey all Can someone post a close up image of a BC Rich Vintage R logo from a bass please? Preferably nice and clear and nice and big. Thanks Shippo
22. Cheers for the advise. I'm gonna see about relocating the rear strap peg. I'll give it a go using some sturdy tape first until I get it right, then I'll tap the hole. Also I've got a guitar techy mate coming over later who says he has some ideas, so I'll post the response and solution here later. Big wide fat leather strap with suede type finish on rear sounds like a good idea too. Anyone know of any decent UK websites that sell wide straps cheaply as some are coming up at about £70+ which is just plain stupid money! thanks Shippo
23. Hey Guys Just picked up a 2001 BC Rich Mockingbird Korean bass. The problem with it is that the headstock always falls towards the floor when you let go of the neck. I know that its no doubt the sh*te way it was built and is a problem with BC Rich's in general, but it is essential that I play it without having to constantly support the neck. Any ideas how to sort this problem? Thanks Shippo
