THIS IS NOW DEFINITELY UP FOR STRAIGHT SALE! New better quality sound clips: Pos 1 (parallel bridge H) https://soundcloud.c...sterling-sounds Pos 2 (series neck and neck coil of H) https://soundcloud.c...sterling-sounds Pos 3 (Series H) https://soundcloud.c...sterling-sounds Pos 4 (All coils) https://soundcloud.c...sterling-sounds Pos 5 (parallel neck and neck coil of H) https://soundcloud.c...sterling-sounds The bass A 2008 model Musicman Sterling HS, made in the US of A. Absolutely immaculate, as new, without a single ding, scratch, or chrome tarnish on it. This bass has been very, very well looked after. Beautiful natural oiled finish slim Sterling neck. Comes with original MM hardcase in very good condition. The "epic" mods This bass looks completely bone stock from the outside. However, there is a fairly extensive list of modifications, all overseen by Guitaraid London, who really knows their stuff. Pickups The original ceramic humbucking pickup has been replaced with an alnico Nordstrand MM4.2. The S neck pickup has also been replaced with one live coil and the dummy coil from an MM4.3. Anyone who's used these pickups knows how good they are - they are sweeter, warmer and more organic than the original ceramic pickups. Preamp The preamp has been replaced by an SJD 70s Musicman Stingray preamp replica. It is a copy, with modern quality components and as such nails the musical, sweet sounding 70s preamp with far less hiss than the 70s original and less hiss than the modern Sterling preamp. SJD is a small boutique guitar electrics builder who builds absolutely top quality parts. Switching This is where I think it gets most interesting. As I wanted both Sterling and Stingray coil options, I've completely rewired the switch to give the following options: 1. Parallel H. The parallel option, plus the Nordstrand and 70s preamp means you absolutely nail the classic stingray tone. Think Sister Sledge or Rage Against the Machine's debut album. 2. Coil 1 of the H pickup (nearest to the neck) + neck live coil in series. This setting is one of my favourites - it gives a really growly aggressive Musicman/P-bass hybrid tone with loads of low mid balls. 3. Series H. This is the thick, funky powerful Sterling sound, albeit with extra organic sweetness from the Nordy and preamp. 4. Coil 1 and 2 in series and neck live coil in series with the dummy coil, both circuits in parallel. This is a thick, modern tone - the Stingray parallel H sound with more bottom end and mid presence. Nice fat sound with fingers and treble rolled off. Nice meaty rock tone. 5. Coil 1 of the h pickup (nearest neck) in parallel with the neck pickup. This is a more scooped less aggressive version of setting 2.
4. Pending baby and house move means I need cash. I'm absolutely loathe to do this, as I have spent many, many hours and lots of money completely upgrading this bass, so at this stage I'm still not sure if I want to part with it. The bass This is a gorgeous wine red Musicman Sterling HS (one humbucker, one single coil in the neck position), lovingly crafted in the US of A, approximately 2009 vintage. It is completely and utterly immaculate - not a single ding on it anywhere. Rosewood fretboard. Matched wine red headstock. Comes with original hard case. Pics to follow. The "epic" upgrades Note that all upgrades are internal. It looks bone stock. Pickups. This bass now has a Nordstrand MM4.2 in the bridge position and a split Nordstrand MM4.3 (with single live and dummy coil beneath it) in the neck position. The Alnico Nordys are far warmer and more organic sounding than the original Ceramics - anyone who has use Nordy pickups will know how good the pickups sound. Preamp The preamp has also been upgraded from the Sterling preamp to a SJD Luthier 70s Stingray replica preamp. This is a very faithful replica of a 70s Stingray preamp and the tone is absolutely spot-on and is gorgeous. The top end is far sweeter than the original and introduces no hiss, unlike the Sterling preamp. It is a 70s Stingray preamp with modern quality components. Pickup selector switch This is where, I think, it gets really interesting. As I wanted 70s Stingray and Sterling tones, I've re-wired the bass so the pickup selector switch gives you the following: 1: Parallel H. Parallel + Nordy 4.2 + 70s SR preamp means you absolutely nail the lush 70s Stingray tone. 2: Coil 2 (closest to the neck) of the H and the neck single coil in series This is a really growly, fat, Musicman/P-bass hybrid tone which is one of my favourites. Lots of balls and lower mid meatiness. Must be heard to be appreciated. 3: Series H. This is the punchy, funky MM Sterling tone, albeit with extra organic warmth from the Nordys and a little more sweetness from the 70's Stingray preamp. 4: All coils. H coils in series with each other, S coil and dummy coil in series with each other, both circuits in parallel with each other. Big, fat, scooped modern tone. 5: Neck coil and coil 2 of the H pickup in parallel. A more scooped, less aggressive version of position 2. I can upload some sound files later on. Shipping is a possibility at cost. Dave

7. Guys - sorry for the lack of reply to PMs. This is withdrawn for the time being.
8.
This amp is amazing - someone please buy it to put me out of my misery - would have it for a back-up to my own STL9 - this is a silly price for one of the best amps ever IMO - so bump!
Thanks Yes great amps. I think you might have the 9.0 as the backup to the 9.2 not the other way round The 9.2 definitely sounds better to my ears.
9. Some interest, but nothing concrete yet
10. No money only I'm afraid bud.
11. This is now being withdrawn. Sorry guys!
