I can actually remember when Capri Orange was a current Fender colour back in the late 70's/early '80's. My local music shop had a Jazz Bass this colour and another in very vibrant yellow. Beyond my pocket at the time, but those were better days than now, that's for sure.
Looks like a smashing bass. GLWTS.
Cheers. It really is a cool one, sounds great, looks wicked. However, I’ve definitely realised I’m a shortscale guy (makes sense after 30 years of guitar).
Had some interest and some interesting trade offers, really could do with some cash to go towards a new acoustic though, so hopefully it’ll go soon. 🤞

Buyer had an unfortunate bill crop up so this is back up for sale. Roll up roll up, come and get a mighty fine orange thing.

Had a few interesting trade offers, but nothing that I can’t live without yet. I’ve seen a nice acoustic for sale elsewhere, so hoping to raise funds for that more than anything.
Also had a few questions about weight, so out came the kitchen scales. Was surprised to see this come in at 9lb 11oz, always thought it was closer to 8.5 (didn’t feel substantially heavier than a few of my guitars). What I’d say is it balances perfectly, no neck dive and feels a comfortable weight.

Easy…

Agree with @Pea Turgh, a flat keyboard stand should do it. I keep an ac30 on one, and it does the trick nicely.

Cracking looking bass, very classy.

I’ll take them if they are still available please. PM incoming.

Well ain’t that a pretty thing -fantastic colour!

T3 was a cracking guitar, I gigged one for a while. That said, the guitar market (more so than the bass market it seems) is so traditional and struggles with anything that isn’t a dyed in the wool Fender or Gibson.

Keep seeing these advertised on the musiczoo or similar US website. They look ok, but there are so many other great offsets out there -do we need another? And for me, are they going to be any better than the uk makers such as Trent or Daniel’s? I’d imagine not.

You can’t have enough orange in your life. #fact 😉

What a clever little device, so much better than the original! Rather jealous, I’ve dabbled in pedal steel in the past but am yet to spend time with a b bender. Great find op.

I’d say more guitar based ,but it has a bass section and it’s ok
Beat me to it there. Yes, guitar and bass but more guitar focussed.
It’s in the classifieds here too @soulstar89

Superb basses. I had one in that very colour. A Fender Japan PB-70US is a brilliant instrument.
Interesting. I wonder if that means it was a special run for a store -or if I’ve got the details totally wrong. 😂
Unless it was this very bass?

This is at the back of my mind. It’s a very comfortable weight too which is also in its favour. 🤔

I’ve never seen one of these in that colour - looks fantastic! I had a white one many years ago and regretted selling it. Great comfy fast necks on these.
Aren’t they just, makes me have second thoughts about letting it go as it is so comfy to play.

Great colour, very nice
Cheers. It’s a lovely bass, however the new Vox has marginally trumped it.

By my understanding this one can be justifiably called rare (although, more than happy to be corrected). It’s an unusual factory special order PB70US in Capri orange. The ‘US’ in the title refers to these having the USA precision pickup. I was going to upgrade the pots but never got round to it as it sounded bloody marvellous anyway, but will include these in the sale. Comes with the original white pickguard and Japanese paperwork. Pickguard has been changed to black (looked more 70s that way) and bridge and pickup covers added. It’s got a lovely dark rosewood fretboard and is a joy to play. Currently sporting flatwounds (and a lump of foam for that Motown sound). Includes the fender gig bag.
Condition is pretty good used condition -odd mark, scratch and light ding, though nothing major, have tried to capture these warts and all in the photos. Happy to share more and answer any questions if you’ve concerns.
Would prefer buyer to collect from north Northamptonshire (just off the a14 near Kettering), or can drive to meet. I do have boxes, but not having a hard case it won’t be insured, so would prefer not to go down that route.
Open to sensible offers on price and will entertain trades for good quality acoustic guitars (Larivee, Auden etc) or short scale basses (Gibson SG bass, Epiphone Rivoli) with a little cash either way where necessary. Price drop to £875?

I’ve a factory special order orange finish PB70US I’ve just listed on the fretboard and will be listing over here if you are still on the hunt for one. 👍

Christ, always lusted after one of these...
I’m really impressed with it. This modern run are built in partnership with one of the Japanese factories and it is the usual high quality build we’ve all come to expect from Japanese made guitars and basses. It plays really well and was almost perfect straight out of the box. Smallest neck I’ve ever encountered on a bass, but kind of fun for it.

I’m in the ‘early’ stages of rediscovering bass having had a cheap knock-of eb3 copy that I purchased (and gigged) for £60 about 30 years ago. In due course I moved onto guitar and bass fell by the wayside until I picked up a lovely precision bass a couple of years ago. Something wasn’t quite the same and I have gradually pieced together that as good as the precision is, it’s long scale. Since then a Hofner ignition Beatles bass has been added which is fantastic for the price, and then in the past few weeks a Vox VBW3000 (Bill Wyman) bass has turned up. Since it’s arrived I have played little else, though I do need to get a set of flat rounds on there for that authentic mid-60s sound.

No, the parasites are often the guys that run the open mic nights. They go into a local venue that has had live music on for years and offer to run nights for a third (or less) of the usual fee. For a time they make it work, taking half of the money for their ‘expenses’ and giving out a tenner here or there to cover ‘fuel for the featured artist’. After three or four months they’ve exhausted every connection they have locally, the landlord calls time on it and the open mic guy moves on to do the same in another local venue. However, the landlord now knows he can get an evening’s entertainment for a fraction of the prior cost so lowers what he is willing to pay accordingly. Local music scene dries up. Cue open mic guy ranting on social media that nobody will pay for live music anymore when nobody will book him and his band. Seen it a few too many times now.

Like this a lot, lovely jazz. Wish I had the funds.
Would you rather have 8 Harley Bentons or 1 Musicman/Fender (MIA)/Rickenbacker (etc...)

It’d be a single s/h high end bass, so the change from not being brand new would pay for a HB too. 😉
As so many have said, the quality of ‘mid-range’ instruments now is comparable to the high end of 30 years ago. Nobody really needs that high end instrument, but we do it because they are nice and usually it is simply because we can afford them. I’m a guitarist who has converted to bass, and have owned or played almost everything (in the guitar field, not basses) at some point; I currently have a midrange Eastman, alongside a handmade boutique build and a high end Gibson. I love all three, but the first two are the ‘better’ instruments. I’m already finding bass is much the same in terms of market quality and having had a couple of HB basses through the door in recent years -the only thing I have against them is boat anchor weight, otherwise absolutely cracking for the money.
