1.
Just lovely - is that orange with slightly deeper orange competition stripes? I love these things - one of the coolest basses around, and especially so with the early '70s colours and stripes
Yes, that's the one. Trouble is, now I've played it again I remember why I retired it. Gonna give it a shot at the next gig but I have my doubts to be honest.

  2. Sorry about the photo quality, just used my fone.

Going to give it a whirl at my next gig but after playing it again today I'm not sure I'm going to get on with the scale so I'll take the Ray just in case it doesn't happen for me.

  3. Thanks for the info guys. Never really been in to flats but I might give them a go if thats the consensus.

One more question. Were am I going to get a case for it ? Too big for a guitar case and it rattles around in the Stingrays case.
I've had a quick trawl through here and on the net but apart from the fender one at 170 dollars had no luck.

  4. I've got an old Mustang, it was my first real bass and I've owned it for 30 years. It hasn't gigged for at least 20 years but I fancy giving it a blast in my newish band.

What strings do you use ? And also I use quite light roundwounds on my Stingray and I like them. Can you get away with light strings on one of these or does it lose a bit of bottom cos' it's short/medium scale, whatever it is.

  5. Yes Steve I'm gigging again. Spent many years in club cabaret bands, don't ever want to go back to it. Now playing in a 3 piece, guitar, bass, drums, doing pubs.

All covers. Foo Fighters, Killers, Greenday, Radiohead, Manics, Stereophonics, U2 etc and loving it. :)

    Are you gigging ?

  6. 'welcome pie eater' :) Thanks Graham, but I'm only an honorary pie eater cos' I was born in Bootle, I've lived here 41 years but I'm still an "outlander" to the locals.

Steve, I live in Ashton, the centre of the known universe  . Where abouts are you ?

  7. Thanks for the warm welcome guy's. Just had a quick squint at my account settings but sadly I cant find the "TURN THE FOR SALE AND WANTED FORUM OFF" button, so it's looking like wallet trauma for me. :)

I've already had a look and come out with a "virtual" shopping list.

  8. Hello everyone

Been having a mooch on here since I was dragged kicking and screaming out of retirement a couple of months ago and it's a great forum.

Played for longer than I care to remember, working my way through a few basses inc. 3 Precisions, 1 great, 1 indifferent and one not very good.

Now left with my 79 Stingray and my very old Fender Mustang battered to death, never played but much loved.
