1. I had 2 warmoths so far and the quality is there. I bought parts second hand to compensate price of shipping and duty fee + VAT. Necks are rock stable, but a bit on the heavy side, that's where steel rods make a difference ;-) I'm not sure if I was going to assemble from new parts, that would probably be out of my budget, but when buying used neck/body, you can get very nice bass for more than reasonable amount.

Warmoth is also one of the best ways to start with exotic woods. I loved my wenge/bloodwood neck!

2. Sorry for this thread, but I've no idea where else to ask. I have Nordstrand 3-band preamp in my bass and I'm thinking to switch it to match the preamp with custom pickups local guy is wiring. The question is what is the Nordstrand worth? I think it's one of his older models and it's 5 knob (vol, vol, treb, mid, bas) + 1 switch for bypassing active circuitry (bass then works even without battery). The mids are fixed frequency, i.e. no push/pull pot. There's still "that turning device I can't translate" right at the circuitry. It's in very good condition, none of pots is scratching or anything, works flawlessly. Any idea what should I ask for it? Thank you.

3. Well, I have quite some experience "from the other side". IMO there's not much difference between shipping abroad and "locally". The only downside is you have to fill few more papers (at least that was when I was sending package from CR to UK or Poland) and pay a little more than locally. The best way to avoid fraud is to deal with peaople who already have feedback, but that's a bit rough for those who don't. I believe you should be able to recognise frauder when exchanging PMs before the sale actually happens. Cheers!

4. Hi guys, does anyone know how much could this one be worth? I've got trade proposal and I don't have idea whether it's good or bad proposition.. The guy says it's Japan from early 80's. I've seen some Cimars but never with this kind of headstock, which I've only seen with Ibanez basses. Any ideas on price?

5. I tried Markbass LM against the TC RH450 and Markbass was blown mile away... It sounded pretty dull with no spark, quite dead to me. On the other hand, TC was exactly my cup of tea - could do from light valve simulation to pretty fuzzy tone. Those amps are very different! It surely depends on what you're looking for... If you want more "hi-fi" or "pure" sound, you should go with LM, but if you want something more messy, then TC is the way you go.

6. I'm using my RH450 with one or two 1x12". Both are custom made by local guy and both are awesome. One is equipped with neodymium Eminence Kappalite 3012-HO, the other one has some kind of 18Sound ferrite speaker. Both cabs are 8 ohm. Depending on situation I use one or both of them, but usually I can hear and feel my bass with just one... I'd say nice 1x12" at 8 ohm should be more than enough for rehearsals and gigs for every non-butcher music.

In an ideal world I'd have the RH450 but to be honest I'm pushing my funds to get this rig and one of the bands I'm in requires that I tune flat and I'm not sure that the built-in tuner does this.

I didn't actually try the 4x10 cab but the 2x10 combo had loads of punch and the 4x10 will give me a bit more volume and spread.

No 2x12 instore but I would wouldn't rule one of these out in the future, it'll depend on how I get on with the 4x10.

Built in tuner in RH450 tunes whatever you want :-) It will just show the note with # sign, so instead of E you will tune D#...
And btw, it's simply genius, powerful, lots of tone... the best head I've ever had!

8. Some of you might not know that GMR is luthier company from Poland with quite some similarities to Mayones or Maruszczyk and also other influences in their work (like Warwick or Sandberg).
I bought this bass not so long ago mainly because I really digged the look. Unfortunatelly I more and more realise I can't simply switch between 4 and 5 string basses. And because 5 is being my main bass now this fact becomes quite uncomfortable to me - I put fingers on wrong strings all the time. So even though the look itself is fabulous it can't compensate my stupidity.

This is Bassforce 4 Classic model, where Classic means it's bolt on (four screws). The workmanship is very, very nice. Everything is smooth and nice, the bass balances nicely due to extended upper horn and the lower one is good for practice while sitting. Neck is very comfy (think of slightly thicker jazz bass) and fast feeling. Overall condition of the bass is pretty good (I would say 8,5/10), there are couple of minor dings at headstock (see pics) and some maple discoloration here and there. The body has only few hardly noticeable minor scratches...

Body is two piece mahogany with really nice grain and nicely matched together. Control cavity is shielded by aluminium tape and the cover is made from mahogany too.
The neck is three piece maple with two rosewood stripes, matching mahogany veneer headstock (with another thin rosewood veneer between).
Rosewood fingerboard with nice grain to it. Two octave 24 frets (medium/jumbo I'd say), side dot markers only.
Black hardware: Schaller sealed tuners, hold in tune very well and the ETS bridge is awesome. It's high mass, has adjustable string spacing and simple quick release of strings.
Electronics: Bassculture (some say it's "Nordstrand of Germany" and I have no reason not to believe) musicman style pickup in wood cover coupled with Noll 3-band electronics with push/pull volume for active/passive mode. Controls are volume, treble, middle, bass.
The bass sounds like... like the bass with MM pickup, although it's not exact MM clone (which suits me well). The sound's not especially aggresive, but still could achieve nicely rounded growl. Nice thing about the preamp is it doesn't color the sound - the bass sounds very similar passive and active when set to flat (controls have center click). Controls have milder effect, you can't totally mess the sound by turning knobs.
