1. 1962 USA Precision 6 months old when I bought it
Noname Jap Fiddle bass (had it for a week in the seventies!)
Rick 4001 Stereo
Travis Bean
Gibson prototype made in japan in the early eighties, Explorer shape but bolt-on jazz shape neck and P/J
Hohner Jack headless
Mexican Precision

From 1962 to date.

Not many, is it?

Sadly, I owned them serially.

"Pro players generally don't have good instruments - they are too busy paying the rent etc"

The Rick the TB and the Precision were all from my days pre turning pro.

Only one I regret is that Precision.

Here's mine, a Gus G3 5-string.

Before:

After:

It was done by Simon Farmer of Gus Guitars. I did a thread about it here with all the details and photos of the refinishing/restoration process.

(grin) Photoshop, I say, PHOTO SHOP!

Joking aside, you are a braver man than me doing that to a £$£$£$£ Bass, but the end result is rather nice.

3. Boo Hoo.
You just reminded me of my 1962 three color sunburst precision that was sprayed with white nitro in 63 to match the strat and the tele we used in the band.
All three white and the main guitar player's name was....White.

Had it stolen later in 63, got it back and had to sell it, then found out last year the guy I sold it to ALSO had it stolen in 64 and never got it back.

Sad.

4. I originally bought a behringer 350 watt head and 2x10 plus horn cabinet off a BC member to get me back in the game in what I thought was going to be a nice little rock and roll 4 piece that gigged regularly in the local area.

Been doing fine with this humble rig till they mentioned 800 people invited to their NYE gig - realised that I would need somthing a little more manly!

So I bought a pair of 10" 300 watt Celestion Neo greens, planning on just dropping them into the Behri cab.

They arrived and were MUCH smaller than the holes for the Behringer, so after exploring several options I found a member on here selling a shallow Ashdown 210 plus horn cab with a dead horn.

After having discovered that it too didnt quite line up, I bought some circular grills and now have a rather nice Ashdown grill spare if anyone wants it!
Oh, and 2 10" 100 watt Ashdown speakers!

Anyway, I also discovered a couple of piezo horns I had bought in the seventies (!) languishing in a flight case in the attic, one of which was fitted and I did my first gig with the new, louder (I hoped) lighter cab.

Farted like a trooper. When I got it home I discovered that the piezo I had fitted was not very well, but since I had two, I tried the other one and BINGO! All working fine.

The only down side was that the poor little Behri amp could not keep up, so I went to Digital Village in Cambridge looking to try out some better more powerful amps.
Derned if they didnt have the 450 watt into 4 ohm version of the Behringer amp in stock used for....£99.

So I now have a nice loud rig that actually doesnt sound half bad at all for almost no money laid out!
I can finally get louder than our guitar player!
Course it does look a little weird and has a nasty habit of terrorising the angry peasants round here, but...

So once again thank you to all who participated in the creation of this little monster. One handed lift and 600 watts!

5. Already sent pics to Iconic so here goes for a try at uploading them from Photobucket on here. Sorry if this fails.

Here's a demo of the bass by Ryan Martinie. Not the best sound quality and he starts the demo by doing his octave tap technique which doesn't sound right for this bass, but does play some nice melodic stuff towards the end. You'll get a rough idea of what the bass is like. Can't wait to try one myself and see how it compares to the Star 1 which I absolutely adore.

He needs a bass player. Why don't demonstrators actually play a decent bass line, rather than showing their asses? Nearly widdled myself laughing at his comment at the end. I was tempted to post a link to a photo of The Pretty Things, but his comment was irony enough.
