    [*]the MK1's are not highly regarded (on TB), but they sound like fine single coils to me

    I also own a (stock) Lakland 55-01. And I like the Barts a lot. Not sure if I am convinced enough to invest a large sum of money.

    So I went for a look at talkingbass.net but at first glance it did not struck my as special.
    Which useful material do you mean?
