1.
Thanks Bottomfeed.
I'm getting some very positive comments from our sound tech and fellow musos on my sound at the moment so starting to think I should be keeping this.
    I'm confused.
Well....Funny game this finding the right gear business!.......

    Some questions:

What has brought you to thinking you want to get rid of?......

    What were you using before?...

What is the difference to you?....

What cabs are you using with it?

  2. another useless reply!.... roughly once a month for me...
I'm quite a sweaty bar steward... & play often...

When I was an 'angry young man' , I used to break a lot of strings!... :) E's mostly!

Sometimes do the boiling thing (with a bit of salt &/or vinegar!) ...it gets the zing back but it never lasts as long as from new & they are a little more prone to breaking...

  3.
 that's what I was thinking, just couldn't remember the name lol
and one of me, to put you all to shame because im quite possibly the youngest here, have a guess at my age

Was taken at out last gig by a friend who also happened to be doing something or other in photography
    Zach
.... Ommmmmm ... ah...wait a minute..... it's coming through now..... by the mystic power of profile viewing ... :) 14!?
a mere bass playing foetus!... consider me shamed!

  4. Bristol's never been that good for music shops.... since Sound Control got their teeth in & blew the smaller places out the water...

Electric Ladyland has been going for years in Old market if your looking for vintage instruments

Mickelburgh's in Stokes Croft has a Warwick dealership (the Basement)

& I guess it's worth checking out what Reverb (ex sound control) has to offer in it's clearance sale...

  5.
I doubt there are many that will be able to give a real world comparison of these cabs and most of us will probably extol the virtues of the cabs that we have
:)
.... I'm liking me new Berg AE112's

....to my biased ears it covers "a great deep smooth sound but still with enough detail" perfectly!...

& god... it's so nice not breaking out in a sweat carting them up & down me stairs on a hot gigging day!

  6.
Finally got some pictures of my rig that don't suck.

I tend to use just the 2x10 for most gigs, just adding the 15 when I need some extra volume. I'm sure that the talk of phase cancellation etc is correct but I still like the sound I get from this set-up.

I always DI the head into the PA so what the audience hears is dependant on that anyway.

Looking good!...... & that 15 is a little familiar! :)

  7.
Hi Folks,

Just bought a Peavey T-Max head from Dave, better known around here as 'bottomfeed'.

All in all, it was a completely hassle-free transaction; the amp's great and exactly as described, well packaged up and Dave's a really easy person to deal with.. So am happy to recommend him to fellow Basschatters when buying/selling gear on the Forum.

But on top of all that, he somehow managed to get Parcelfarce to deliver the amp to me in 24 hrs instead of the 48 hr service I paid for, which was amazing!

    Thanks Dave!

    Nik
Well thank you kindly sir!....

Glad the T-Max arrived safely.... & all is well with it

Parcel-Farce may have delivered the goods promptly ..... but their idea of an AM pick up was 8pm!!! :)

  8.
Which begs a question. If her grandfather is John Paul Jones....
Yup.... Grandpa actually is JPJ!....

funny thing is, I taught her '7th nation army' - white stripes... which she picked up very quickly...(she really does have potential!.... & only 10 years old!) with emphasis on playing the G/A bridge with alternating 'walking fingers' of the right hand & she came back after seeing grandpa.... & said... 'grandpa gave me a tip about playing that'.....
.'Oh yes... I say, '& what was that?'
'he said I could play that bit with one finger if it was easier!....'

well.... what can I say?! :) ha!.....

  9.
LOL - I thought I'd seen this topic before!

Still gives me a chance to tell this story again!

I'd snap one up if I saw one again too. Where do those old bases go. You go into music shops and there's any amount of old guitars - but where are the bases?

    David
OMG!!!!.... Ebay Jedson bass!! I can't believe he wants £129.99 for it!!!!

"This bass guitar is about thirty years old and hard to find in good condition.Everything is in full working order and the adjustable action is very playable. It would be perfect as a starter bass guitar,or for more professional use in the studio for that 70's large single coil sound....."
'professional!?'.... 'Studio use!!???'... 'the adjustable action is very playable'????!!!!? .... WTF!?! LOL! :)

  10. Isn't there one of these already?!... Here
ah well.... the more the merrier!... :)
    copy/paste.... etc...

Yes... the Jedson bass.... a short scale pile of w@nk! .....but it looked kinda cute!

  11. Yeah.. I'd be interested to hear what ppl think now they have 'em.......
I was the guy who ended up with the ex-demo neopak 3.5.... I'm well pleased with it, though for a moment I was worried that it might be a bit underpowered... but to be honest it kicks it out as much as my T-max did (& that was 500w into 4ohms)
I guess the neopak is similar to the shuttle 6, EQ wise anyway.... it was pretty cool when I plugged in with everything flat...(& I'm glad it's not as compact as the shuttles!... my failing eyesight needs bigger knobs, these days!) but I reckon I'll still be tweaking it from gig to gig for some time..... :)

  12.
Mine was a horrible, horrible short scale Jedson bass - with those horrible slidy on/off switches for the pickups - which invariably got knocked, muting the guitar, when plucking entusiastically!

It was 1973 and it was £19.50 from Contact in Leeds. And I was 15
Yes.... me too!..... I was 13, what a horrible bass it was! (though I wouldn't have known it at the time) I didn't really start to learn how to play till several years later... it sat in the corner of my room trying to look cool for a couple of years...

I eventually sold it at school... & got an Audition bass from Woolworth's, £10 coz it was shop soiled & had a string missing...
    Then the journey really began...
    can't find a pic .....

  13.
Ooooo errrrr what happened to the ol' Peavey set-up Dave???
Hi Josh..... How you doin?
.... in the process of selling me old Peavey/Trace gear
Genz Benz & Bergantino! ...like Garlic Bread, it's the future! :)

  14.
That looks great, any soundclips?
no, sorry!.... :) ..... might get round to sorting some.... Genz Benz & Bergantino do seem to compliment each other very well though... had a job getting what I wanted out of those cabs before the neo-pak arrived

  15.
That's what a bass rig should look like, as tall as the bassist.
...But my GB & Bergs is as tall as me! ...... if I was a midget it would be! :)
All that SWR..... monster monster!!! must sound teriffic!.......
