Bump for a great bass.
Have owned one before and played this particular one at Chris's. Its a great example of a rebop.
Very versatile tone wise and SO easy to play. Add to that It's in A1 condition and Chris is a great bloke to deal with.
Really wish I had the money. -
Cheers Pablo, will definitely give him a try.
Much obliged folks. -
I don't thiink these have a diode for protection.
Will take it into a shop in town and hope for the best.
Cheers
Most of the newer MXR, Dunlop, EH and many other modern pedals use surface-mount components, which make them unrepairable to the average tech... including me, I just don't have the equipment or techniques - or to be really honest, the inclination - to work on them.
From the symptoms it sounds worse than something simple like a fried protection diode, that would usually just leave it totally dead.
Try to find a tech who will at least open it and tell you if it's go or no go for free.
-
Hello all,
Seems like I've commited the cardinal sin where these pedals are concerned and mistaken one power supply for another.
Result? A bit of a smell and the light stays on. The effect still works but with a really dirty signal.
Has anyone else done this?
Is it repairable or is my treasured Blowtorch now just a paperwieght?
I'm REALLY miffed about this!

Just bought a Squier VM Fretless Jazz from Chris.
No hassle, nice bloke and an absolute pleasure to talk to. Oh, and a top bass! He certainly looks after them.
Thanks again,
Joe
Ps. Don't sell that rebop.
but if you do........... -

Have a red tort Jazz Scratchplate if that takes your fancy.
-
Got an all black P with a maple neck at the moment and fancying a facelift but the perloid might look a bit naff,
Don't suppose you've a tort pickguard you don't wan't?
Always worth asking. -
Kenny,
A Bump for the slap bass equivalent of the Bible.
You wont find it cheaper than this anywhere people, and I should know 'cos I looked hard enough before paying 30 quid for my own. -
WOT
+1 for the City hall. Well done mate.
Seen all my Idols play there over the years.
Oh and, BTW ... love your collection of basses (especially the Jazz). -
Mmm, really, really tempted.
Will get back to you asap. -
Where abouts in Gods country do you live marcus?
-
I thank you.
-
Yep, I virtually ran away from the shop before he changed his mind!
-
PM'd.
I'll take the Chuck Sher book please. -
Got Mine for 150 I think plus a knackered old Londoner amp as PX!
Can't fault it. -
My first was a Bright red Hondo destroyer with P bass pups and terrible action. Bought from Windows in Newcastle in early 80's.
Haven't got a clue where it is now.
Bless. -
You've got me thinking now....
It could do with a facelift.
Funny really I haven't had the thing 2 minutes. -
They're a bit like like rocky horse s**t but I love mine.
One day when the band makes lots of money I'll push the boat out, but right now it's doing a grand job.
Don't have any backup though. -
Still got the Pbass pick guards?
Got a Black precision with maple neck, which one do you think will set it off the best?
Like black but I'm trying to picture the pearl.
hhmmmm. -
Got mine new (but a little smokey) from Grott guitars in old Eldon square(remember them).
Got it for an absolute steal because it had been in some fire damaged building.
It smelt a bit smokey for a couple of weeks but after that it was all good.
I think there was a couple of them at there at the time.
Maybe you got the other one? -
The Bass base 250 is an excellent amp and i use it for backline and on it's own for pubs etc and it copes no problem. Bit heavy though, you wouldn't want to be carting it about all the time.
Have to be honest though I don't know anything about the modern stuff.
Bit disappointed if it's true what warwick is saying about the tone of the newer amps as I was looking at a back up for mine. Hope they haven't skimped on quality. -
re. the POD
Had my floor pod for about 8 months now and I'm only now getting the best out of the compressors....I think.
Try doubling up with the front end compressor (on the control panel) and the MXR.
A bit dissapointed with the compressors and chorus on the POD TBH. -
If you've had any dealings with me, please leave a comment, good or bad, and I'll return the favour.
All the best.
Joe

Sent the blowtorch to Martin and ITS FIXED!
Took a few weeks for bits to come from the USA but it's on its way back to me in good working order.
All for £25 delivered.
Nice bloke to talk to as well. Has a good looking couple of overdrive pedals of his own making and does Mods
(will probably try his Bass Bomb Driver when flush).
Well chuffed.
Thanks for the tip Mr Pablo.
