  1. I don't see the attraction in them. Maybe if I ever get one in my hands, but I'm not holding my breath that will ever happen. Needs at least one more string though. Definitely not at $US5k though.

Just wondered if anyone else has made the switch back and now prefers the freedom of not having to worry about damping that B string.

Nope, I don't see damping the B as work, and I mainly play 6s.

    Lessons. Bass,  piano, mandolin, theory.

Agreed, except the mandolin as I have no interest in it. Guitar too though.

I've bought a bass* already this year when I said I wouldn't (but I put a stupidly low bid on it and won) so anything else bass gear wise needs to come from selling the older items I own first.

However, arm twisted and I had to spend the money on gear, $US4k is $AU6k roughly so an EHB1506PB and maybe wait for something S/H to come up. Aesthetically I like the SR1426, but it does nothing that my other 6s don't except be pretty.

    * NBD soon.

It would match my BTB846v nicely, aesthetically at least. I was just hoping (unreasonably considering the likely market) for a SS to tune E-E as the SRC6MS doesn't interest me.

Is asking for the serial number of an amp you are thinking of buying not okay?

I never publish the full SN of any gear I sell as it could then lead to someone claiming it was theirs and stolen. However, I have good records of my gear and would have found out a year from the manufacturer if I could to help, and passed that on, as well as when I bought it and a reasonable guess of hours of use, though this is really a poor indicator of how it might sound and will give no idea of when the tubes will likely need replacing. For tube amps I generally assume they'll need replacing unless the seller can prove a replacement time. I'm an EE and have repaired a lot of tube amps.

the stain colour was far darker than i was expecting. I was aiming for a more red-ish stain, this is almost black.

It looks like one of the stock colours from that era, at least on my monitor. It looks good.

Mine was a burst I bought new and which I grew to hate the finish, but it was thick as it took lots of abuse, so yours likely wasn't original.

There’s also a new EHB1505SMS, upgraded version of the short-scale. I like the colour on this one:

If that was a 6, I'd have been selling off some of the kids for medical experimentation to fund one.

  9. I don't mind the F series, but the string spacing on all the 6s is too wide for my tastes.

The Zs are likely fine basses, and I'd be amazed if they weren't in the same class as the EBMMs, just a whole lot less expensive. However, pickguards and control plates make me nauseous, so a definite no thanks.

  10. Nice bass, congrats. I love the look of them, especially a black ash one (M7 6er) I saw a while back but had neither the pesos nor the need at the time so I held out from even touching it. They're rare here so it helps keep any temptation at bay.

By all accounts and the reviews I've seen of them, it's a fine bass. May you long enjoy it in good health.

  11. I would love one, if only for the consternation it's going to cause many people, players or not, when they see it. Plus the utter BS stories I's be able to tell about how the neck got that way, and why.

Enjoy your new bass and have fun playing it. Love the colour too.

My word, what an amazing bass. It sounded wonderful, the big neck sat lovely in my hand. The band commented on what a great bass sound I had.

The band were obviously just being nice to you, and hoping you won't bring that embarrassing, cheap POS back with you next time. Imagine what any other musos in the audience would think once they saw the headstock...

It's not like I've played my one of these live. I tell people the Gio on the headstock means it's from an Italian design workshop, sort of like Bertone for cars.

It looks so elegant! Classy! Congrats!!

I am also a Cort Artisan player (B4FL & B5 Element) and also GASsing hard for an EHB...

Thanks. I agree that it's elegant, a great descriptor.

I've got the 4 string version. Probably one of the best basses I've ever had and it's an undiscovered gem generally. (It's seen off Spectors, Warwicks and Stingrays in the last few years)

I've had 5 mins with it so far as work is nuts, but it sounds good to me; I don't get the Bart Mk1 hate...

Great basses these. I've had a few over the years - they compete with basses of a much higher price point. Good score sir! Enjoy. 😁

    Thank you, I will.

  14. I've always fancied one of these and I found one for sale at about 550quid delivered, new.

Tone is good, doesn't feel all that different from my Ibanez SRs in neck shape, good Hipshot hardware and 16mm spacing.

There's not a lot of flame in the front, but I don't care for the price, and it's subtle looking overall.

I need to spend some time setting it up properly, but it's minor only and I could have played it live out of the box.

Rushed pics taken in my jungle of a yard that hasn't been getting the attention it should as it's getting towards Christmas and work is hectic.

As this is now my 6th 6, I think I'll leave it for a while unless I can afford an EHB1006MS.
