  1. Thx skybone it’s a great piece of kit sounds great 👍
  2. I think I just like the sound , but most of all I think people do get caught up in the mk moment and I guess I am one of those as I am a big admirer of his talent , however I think theres some much available now in the bass world that sound and feel amazing to play , hence people say you can’t beat a rolls Royce for build comfort but that’s not necessary the case in todays world . But it’s nice to sometimes venture back and capture sounds of old the smooth quality or players ability to change the dynamics, but I guess I would still like one to get it out of my system , but like so many people regret when they sell jd on just get sellers remorse , heavy / sound / mk/ looks it just has a special place I think rgds pj
  3. Just before lockdown I had a afternoon off ,after lusting for a jd for many years and seemly missing out on second hand ones coming up for sale and missing out by a whisker on a number of times , I gave them a call at jd and ask if it was possible to build me not one but two jd s very cheek I know . But if you don’t ask … spoke to Andy and said he would put me on up and coming list , so a big yes , bought the t shirts but unfortunately due to COVID things not. Happen , will give them a call tomorrow to see if I can get order back on track ,will I ever get my dream basses , going to give it my best shot keep you posted ,
  4. I guess I should be happy its the real thing , but it makes complete sense as has some heavy grain in wood , which probably would be blotted out with colour etc , I suppose when sourced which ones gets painted etc to cover imperfections , it’s great looker but not really my cup of tea bass playing wise although neck is so nice and sleek thx pj
  5. Interesting you now have put a new spin on things , this was not even in my mind that this was a possibility could of started out different colour , shame can’t hone in on jack to see if it’s black , good work NIk much appreciate for your input
  6. Thanks Silvia, not very good at tec but scrapping by , very old school kind regards pj
  7. Thanks Cosmo for your thoughts , that’s what I want to confirm really to see if inscription has simply worn away , if it’s a transfer rather. Then like indentured serial numbers , as most show at least a bit of scribble left , not in this case and don’t look over clean , well I guess if I can find b t owner to confirm , seems they went to every effort to black off all hardware but not jack , maybe they just couldn’t get it on plate . Well thanks again much appreciated pj
  8. Hi NIk NIk the pots don’t pull up , it has two nuts underneath trust cover and been dated 1988 that’s all I know about it to be honest this is how I got it , thx pj
  9. Rickenbacker but bass , hope these are ok not very good at tec , the person I acquired from said all original no jack plate change , this is different from any close up shots of rickenbacker but I guess there was issues I understand with black paint not so good . I e probably it would come off jack straight away , but not fully sure if this correct rgds pj
