  1. I love performing live but sometimes I used to get so anxious. I’d have to bolt to the toilet before the show and then once on stage I’d start sweating like some mad beast and  make lots of mistakes that I’d never made before. It was really frustrating.

Drinking beforehand wasn’t much help as I’d be less nervous but my playing would be sloppy as I’d lose some of the dexterity in my hands and I’d be aware of it too and then feel anxious again.

A few simple things like eating properly not  drinking too much caffeine and having a laugh with the guys post soundcheck can help but above all it’s letting the mistakes go that’s the most important attitude to have. The reality is that everyone will make a mistake at some point but they only really become noticeable if they’re dwelled upon and you carry the mistake with you.  ‘Style it out’
I still get nervous if I think about soloing as I’m trying to make it ‘perfect’. As nothing will ever be perfect I’m trying to let this go too!

Anyone looked at ‘the inner game of music’ great book about dealing with performance anxiety.

Also check out inverted-u hypothesis for arousal-performance. As someone said some nerves are good.

The reality is that the bass is very high in the mix and the backing is sparse. Seated properly in a track you might be hard pressed to hear any significant difference. And none of the settings sound “better” to my ears - just different.

This ☝️Not better just different. The different sounds would be appropriate in different musical situations

For the sake of my credit card, all I can say is thank god this isn't a 5. Or my V7 would be off out the door.

This is a ludicrous bargain folks.

Tis a bargain indeed ! I’d happily keep it as a back up if the bills weren’t pilling up 🤪

  4. Yep brilliant, I’ve always found with Markbass I barely need to touch the eq or filters, eq flat and filters off. On a tight stage I really like to tilt the cab/combo for monitoring (using markbass wedge!) makes all the difference. I’ve used CMD121P and the 210 combo on gigs and the sound just cuts through, PA or no PA support. I currently have CMD151p and it’s all I need although I keep looking for an extension cab just cause I wanna see how loud it goes 😂

£175 *possibly trade for P/J vintage style pickups *

Excellent condition gigged once, otherwise light home use. Bought new by me Jan 2021. Boxed with manual.

Here’s some blurb from Andertons as it’s a lot more than a basic eq

Boss’ 200 Series combines stunning studio-quality sound with their trademark rugged, clean-cut design. This totally new form factor offers unprecedented versatility, value, pro-grade features and tactility – plus an eye-catching sci-fi aesthetic to boot.

The EQ-200 Graphic Equaliser boasts a wealth of features and controls that make it a serious contender for the most comprehensive EQ ever created for guitar and bass. Two wide-ranging 10-band EQ channels, a 15dB boost/cut for each frequency, instant preset recall – and much more.

  6. EBS Valvedrive DI

Excellent condition, I purchased from @Clarky of basschat about 2 years ago now.

Great for adding warmth to sound and possible to get lots of overdriven textures and distortion to if that’s your thing. Current lack of use and vets/dental bills forces sale.

It’s boxed and in excellent condition.Stock photo added, real photos to follow.

Would like to get my hands on a diamond blue caprice so I can neck swap with my sunburst caprice

making a diamond blue with rosewood board and sunburst with maple!

I’d really like to try out a caprice, since getting the ol’ smoothie I’m becoming a musicman convert !

It's clearly a lovely pedal and produces some lovely sounds ... but £650 for an overdrive? I play 70/80 paid gigs a year and my entire bass rig isn't worth that much!

Like every other bass player I can't resist buying still more pedals, each of which is sure to make me sound utterly God-like. And when I listen to live recordings from my gigs, even I can't hear changes of settings, sometimes I can't even hear when I stomp in a new FX.

Worst of all, when I DO hear an improvement and think 'Wow!', after 30 seconds I can't hear that any more ... my ears have re-set to the new sound and it sounds like, well, bass.

If you want it and you can afford it then why not? Buy it.

I want it and I can afford it but I'm still not going to buy one!

It’s the four tubes in a pedal form that make me think ‘I need one if those’ I don’t think there’s another preamp pedal with four?
I’m not really looking for overdrive but old school valve warmth for recording and live. Still do I need it - no. Do I want it -Yes. I agree it’s expensive but it’s hand built In California.

Yes ! Sounds awesome! I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with it over 3-6 months or gigging/recording with. I was about to sell my current preamp pedal and eq to raise funds but looks like someone has bought it as can no longer find the listing on reverb. Lucky sod

  10. Ha! Didn’t even realise that was on there or that anyone could see it! Any info on the Jules Simone?

I wondered why the pedal looked so much like a 54 P-bass and then realised the enormous photo was actually your signature!
