1. I have good access to real studios, so all my recording stuff is just for messing about with ideas and things. HP Proliant ML115 Quad core server with 8GB RAM (not a dedicated machine to recording though) Cakewalk Sonar Power Studio 2x2 (re-badged Edirol UA-25) Sennheiser HD595 open headphones for mixing Sennheiser HD215 closed headphones for recording Shure Beta 57A microphone Red 5 Audio RV8 Large Diaphragm Microphone Wishlist: Another RV8, Shure Beta 58A, AKG D112 Mic (not just for kick drums!!), a soundcard with a few more inputs (anywhere between 4 and 8 would do me ). I am not really planning on getting any monitors any time soon. I'm more or less used to mixing on the headphones now ( http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jan07/arti...gheadphones.htm is a good article about it for those interested) It's easy to say I lose a lot of the bass end with the headphones, but in my personal experience it's still less than I'd lose in a small room with budget monitors.

3. Hi all, Thank you for welcoming me More replies than I got when I signed up to a guitar forum recently w00p! Cheers for the links to the for sales signs, although my budget is a little higher than that so I'm probably looking for something more along the lines of a MIM Fender P bass. MM SUB or similar.
4. I tend to use a Edirol UA-25 (although there is now a Edirol UA-25-ex with an analogue compressor which looks quite nice) priced at about £125 and £175 respectively. Not sure if the newer version is really worth it though. I've used the UA-25 on Linux, Windows XP, Windows Vista and OSX in the past with no troubles. It's only 2x2, with no spare stereo input but along with the XLR/TRS inputs, it also has a Hi-Z button for guitar direct connection, S/PDIF optical I/O ports and the old style MIDI I/O ports. I can't really say much about it other than it's given very decent recording wuality for the price and it just sits there doing its job, and it's survived being hefted about the place too.
5. Hi all, I'm a drummer now looking to investigate the world of bass playing . I guess I'll mostly be lurking and checking through the For Sale adverts - yet to pick myself a bass up! - LW
