[quote name='merchant' post='56130' date='Sep 5 2007, 06:15 PM']My bass is up for sale.
Romanian Carved bass,
around 15 years old (I've owned it for just over 2.5 years)
41 inch scale length.
Lots and lots of photographs to come. This potograph is old and shows the bass before I had the neck reset and a new bridge fitted.
The bass will come with Innovation Honey G, D and A strings and a Spirocore E string.
I've had a lot of work done to the bass over the years:
sound post mod
new (good quality) end pin
new tail piece
new bridge (without adjusters as I don't like them)
neck joint strengthend and reset at an increased angle.
I've also had a rather wonderful D extension made for the bass. All work carried out by the excellent Laurence Dickson:
The bass has damage on the front table edges and chips in the varnish. The worst has had a leather runner fitted over it.
Chips on the scroll.
There is also a repaired rib crack (that's a crack on one of the sides of the bass). I'll photograph all these, although they are of no structural issue.
Why am I selling?
I now do way more bowing than pizz playing and I want to get a bass more suited to that style of music. The arco on this bass isn't bad at all, but the fingerboard is definitely more suited to pizz.
I will meet the cost of having the string height lowered for the purchaser (probably to 6-10mm) as it is unlikely that you'll want to start with strings 8-13mm off the board (measured G-E at the bridge end of the fingerboard).
You can hear how this bass sounds by clicking on the merchant tag in my signature. (all tracks recorded straight to stereo on a M-audio micortrack with the inbuilt mic about 3 feet away from the bass and bass clarinet and 7 feet away from the drums. mild mixing compression has been applied and a slight cut of the mid frequencies)
Ok this is where it gets tricky:
I have several gigs coming up so I'll need this bass at the very very least until mid october.
I can't sell this bass until I have found a replacement.
It's a bit like selling and buying houses I'm afraid. I'm part of a chain.
Viewings are invited, although none before october.
cash (or cheque or balance transfer with clearing time) and buyer collects.

Strings now lowered to 7-11mm G-E and the varnish hass been touched up.
Looking good and playing well.
A very sturdy reliable jazz bass.
