  1. From my experience the good bands that I've been in, as a rule, naturally find the music shifts direction rather than suddenly deciding they aren't one thing and are now another. Personally I'd talk it through with them but it does rather sound like the writing is on the wall.

    where how?

I use Google Chrome and the ad blocker programme is free although they ask for a donation. It is good.

I have to say I don't think it is *that* embarrassing - it is 2014 and people use online dating. And the other thing is this only predicts trends so you often get offered things you aren't remotely interested in.

TBH we all dress in a slightly toned-down version of our stage wear in our day to day lives...

    ^This^

I like a band to make an effort, even if your look is looking like you haven't. I don't care if it's punk, country, whatever the genre - put on a show

  4. As said it is all subjective. I wouldn't have put myself down as a sunburst fan but I've owned some really cool looking sunburst basses. The example of PRS in the OP is personally not to my tastes but then there is a market out there for them. I think basses do look cool and sexy but over 25yrs of playing my tastes have moved around a lot. I'm back to a black body / white scratchplate look at present which is something I thought I'd never go for again.

    So just let me clarify...

If I'm after a really clean sound I may be needing to look at something a little higher in wattage?!

But if I don't mind a little bit of breaking up at higher volumes then a 15w may be the way forward?!

15w is fine. I used the Blues Jr for country (think clean tones) & never had a problem. It was a brilliant amp. I don't think mine ever went past 4 on the dial & in fact my guitarist uses it now as I've kept it going since returning to bass.

  6. I had the same couple of basses for all my playing career until I got on Bassworld (the old Basschat). I guess I enjoyed buying but after a period of about 5 or 6 years where I owned an embarrassingly large amount of instruments I realised there was more to life. I have spent an age selling them off and actually downsized the £1500 Fenders for a couple of perfectly adequate / actually pretty decent Squiers. I have no plans to buy any more but still have 2 or 3 instruments that I will list on here / eBay but I've just been spectacularly lazy. I'm not one for bumping sale threads as they'll sell when they sell. It was all good fun whilst it lasted but I think GAS can be a little dangerous. I think 2007-2010 I was certainly a name associated with GAS and NBD, thankfully I would hope I am not now.

  7. I had the same thing myself last month but rang them up and they put it right straight away. They are good with customer service - I've placed a few orders over the years and one went wrong before as well and they were the same then. Very laid back, apologetic and quick to say they'd sort it. They'll get you to return the original back 2nd class but refund the postage once it arrives. As you say at £50 it should be right but speak with them and they'll sort it for you, I'm sure.

It's only 5 shows due to regular bassist having previous commitments, not quite the story it first looks.

It's why I tagged the thread with "for a few shows". I guess this is comparable to Izzy stepping back in during the early 90s when Gilby Clarke had his motorbike accident. Personally I'm not in the remotest bit under any illusions that this is anything more than what it is.

  9. Personally I think since cleaning up his act I think Duff is pretty genuine and doubt this is about money for Duff at least.

I like Duff, liked his book and on some level he is probably a small factor as to why I've been a bassist since the late 80s.
