First concert - Ace Frehley's Comet at the Hammy Odeon 1988
Last concert - Michael Monroe (ex Hanoi Rocks)
Best concert - Dogs D'Amour on the reformation tour in 2013 in Sheffield
Worst concert - Bootleg Beatles in Bath 1995
Loudest concert - Drive By Truckers in Bristol maybe 8 years ago
Seen the most - Jesse Malin or The Quireboys
Most surprising - Atomic Kitten in Swindon at a free concert. I don't know where to start!
Next concert - Backyard Babies (tonight) in Cardiff
Wish I would have seen - Elvis Presley with his original band in the 50s -
Three short sets at the local open mic with my old school R&B / 60s Garage band The Jimmy Sixes. My weakest band but always loads of fun & last night we were absolutely on it. Dusted down my Ric 4003s which sounded great through the house rig which was a tiny Mark Bass combo.

Sorry guys, this thread isn't happening. It's an emotive topic whatever your views & I don't think we're going to be changing one another's opinions so we'd made the decision to keep Basschat Brexit free.

My singer is from Norfolk (we're UK wide) and he's always late to everything. The standard joke is he's stuck behind a tractor!

I 100% agree with the majority of posts that say, be polite as you never know what the future holds. Especially if you are from a small scene / area. I'd be secretly a little aggrieved but it could be the drummer picks you up for his next band or some gigs come your way. That won't happen if you tell them to go stuff it... and if they do wind up being a bunch of idiots, hey, you dodged a bullet!

Two many to choose from but a stand out for me is The Carrie Nations from Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

Nice bass, I've got the exact same, minus the cat.
To be fair, he's not really improved it 😽

Difficult to beat black/maple, congrats Tim, the Player Precisions are great basses.
It's going to have a cream pickup cover with either a black scratchplate or my black / cream paisley scratchplate. I've read a lot about the Player series on here... it needs a setup but I'm optimistic it'll be killer.

Arrived today, a Players Series P bass that I bought to modify. I love my precision but being as it is the same colour as my Jazz, I thought a good old fashioned black & maple would be a good bet. Early indications are that it is light, well balanced & easy to play. The same can't be said of the cat!

It probably changes to suit my mood but right now I like something with a bit of a punk angle. Not punk as in "can't play" but with that urgency to what is played.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm leaning towards keeping my cabs in the house having read all your comments.
Luckily I have a couple of step kids that I can put in the garage instead. Problem solved! 😼

Orange is my main brand of choice and you usually have to dial in a bit of the gain to get any response from the volume. You should however be getting a lot of volume from it for what you are using it for.

50w solid state bass is not that loud but I have the Vox practice amp (VX50) that when cranked up, it keeps up with a drummer and a guitarist in a 3 piece rock n roll band. Are you playing alone or with musicians?
-
I may be moving soon and space will be an issue. What are people's thoughts on storing cabs in a garage? They have heavy duty covers and would be off the ground slightly. I have too many to keep in the house and would rather the limited space was reserved for my basses / heads. Any thoughts or experiences?

It works like a 12 string guitar in the sense that there are 2 E strings, 2 A strings etc. So from what you say, you's only be avoiding the 2 Gs.

I'd love an 8 string 4005 but that isn't going to be cheap!

Just got home from a splendid evening with my Bowie tribute band. The venue was a pub with a dedicated concert room at the side, with house PA and sound man.
Just before we went on there were about 6 non-band people in the room, but once we took to the stage the place filled to capacity. We played 2 hours 20 minutes straight through, no breaks, and the time just flew by.
For once I was standing well forward of my rig (Demeter into Super Twin), and both basses (AVRI Precision and Dingwall PZ5) sounded glorious. Mrs Axe commented afterwards that the bass came through loud and clear.
Happy moments like this make life good!
Great show & it was absolutely rammed!

Manufacturers not giving me free kit to use until my next round of GAS. I've been polite and not said anything until now!

"Clockwork Orange", hope everyone gets the reference. That movie must be 50 years old at least.

I'm coming up 47 in a few weeks but yeah, missed it first time around but saw the film over 20yrs ago. Most of my tastes in art, music and film are older than my years, so yeah, I was happy with the comparison.

Friday night in Lewes and the local paper said "I haven’t come across Last Great Dreamers before, but I like them straight away. Visually they are striking, looking like a Clockwork Orange droog gang who have stumbled across boho chic. Musically they get straight to the point with superbly catchy glam tinged pop punk, stacked with killer riffs and lush vocal harmonies. The songs are immediately engaging, and on stage every band member is really going for it, and you can’t ask much more than that."
and then Saturday night was the 100 Club, which was my favourite gig of the decade (although the decade is but 12 days old!)

If you contact Orange direct through the website I've found them to be really quick to reply and helpful. They can give you the official line on how to use their products. I use Orange all the time now and find them perfect for my needs. I must confess I have a total brain freeze when it comes to science so the first whiff of an ohm and I am lost, so I emailed them too about this - jrikx's link is great. I alternate between one and two Orange cabs when using my Terror head and adjust my ohm setting accordingly.

No photos but we played a sold out show in a tiny pub in Acton... the trick to a sold out show at our level seems to be existing club nights in small venues! Anyhow, 14 seconds of video exists of our song "Turn It Up" - Johnny Thunders meets Adam Ant, anybody?

A massive venue that was changed at the last minute to an industrial estate in Milan. The change wasn't really advertised so we pulled 10 people in a venue that could have held 1500.

Pretty much anything old school looking that isn't going to play havoc with my ageing shoulder. i.e. not too heavy!
