1. Hello Basschatters

I bought this mic new in 1980 and used it through to 1984, it was then put away (under the bed job) until last year when I brought it out again and sent it to Shure for a service and repair on the cable. Shure did the service and repair FOC👍 for me and the mic is in perfect working order. I've kept it as a backup but never used it, so I'm selling it on. It has that retro look and a great response, I used it for vocals but I understand that it's a sought after mic for use with instruments because of it's tight directional sound pickup field.

Pricing includes UK postage, no overseas buyers please. Comes with 4 metre lead and sponge wind guard.

(Edit - 09/03/17) - No love for this at £75 😟, how about £55 posted (UK only).

    Thank you for looking.

  2. Hello Basschatters

Very good condition, complete with original box, carry case, manual and microphone stand attachment. Look this up on the web for current pricing and specification - this is a bargain you don't want to miss. I no longer use the TC-HELICON vocal effect pedal since upgrading my PA so am back to a standard microphone. Looking for £55, this is the reduced - reduced price

Price includes UK only postage, no overseas buyers please.

    Many thanks for looking.

  3. Hello Chaps

I've recently bought a twin bass gig bag (MONO), cost me an arm and a leg, as I'm fed up carrying two gig bags around.

Soooo - that leaves me with my Clearwater semi rigid Bass Case / Gig Bag - she tells me its got to go as it's clogging the place up  .

This Bass Case has served me well and is in very good condition, I'm offering it on a 'buyer collects' basis - anyone interested?

I'm looking for just £20 for it

The Bass is not included in the sale  .

  4. Hello Hamstar8

Can you give me the overall dimensions in cm please, with the cover on. I'm looking for an 8 Ohm 2 x 10 cab to use with my Jeff Berlin Markbass combo - when needed - to get the Max. power out of it.

Deciding factor would be the size to see if I can get both the combo and second cab into my car comfortably.

Oggy :) (I'm not a million miles from you - I'm in Borehamwood)

  5. Hi Basschatters

Some of you will have seen my first post on 'Learn to read the dots' in this forum! I've had some really good advice and pointers given to me to get started on reading and I thank those that replied for that.

An option that was suggested by one member was to get a tutor (face to face time) and read as much as I can - good advice I thought. Being able to play by ear (repetitive learning), in my opinion, makes it harder to learn to read - It's like being able to speak fluently without ever having learned to spell or read. Those of you that have been abroad a lot, say to Spain on holidays, pick up some of the language but would be hard pushed to write it down or read a Spanish newspaper - anyway that's what I liken it to.

I think it would be a very good idea if I could get face to face lessons (with homework) from a Bass tutor, this should put the pressure on and stop me wondering off and playing what I think it is. 'On that note' (get the pun), does anyone out there know of a good Bass tutor within reasonable striking distance of Borehamwood (near Watford / St Albans) that I could get in touch with, and what are the sort of fees that these masters of the fret-board charge for lessons?

The mapping tonal harmony app for iPad is a pretty good tool, I think it cost about £8 or so. Scott's Bass Lessons, and videobasslessons.tv are really good learning communities but do cost quite a lot at about 40 dollars a month each. If you are willing to shell out that amount of cash I would recommend getting some proper face to face tuition, and read as much as you can. You will be surprised how quickly you will pick it up once you start reading every day with your bass on your lap. The mistake I made when doing what you are trying to do was I tried learning theory and reading as a separate thing to my playing. Have your bass in front of you as much as you can so that you relate everything to the bass.

    Hello Crawford13

Thanks for the 'very positive input' appreciated. I'll have a look at the iPad application to mentioned, £8 isn't much if it helps. I think you're right about getting face to face time with a tutor I'll ask in the community if anyone knows of one reasonably local to where I live (Borehamwood in Hertfordshire) and what cost is involved. I now have several sigh reading tutor books from recommendations provided on the sight and links to help / tutor files on this site.

  7. Hi Basschatters

Many thanks for the advice and pointers, really appreciated.

Does anyone out there have knowledge of any iPad applications that help with reading or any of the bass tutorial web sites like Scotts Bass Lessons - anything that I should be looking at?

  8. Hi Basschatters

Now that I've taken the plunge and retired I have time to do what I'd like to do😃. I've been playing bass for a good number of years now and hope to continue until that time when I'm called to account for my sins. Up to this point I've been playing by ear, listen to the track a few times and perhaps download a chord chart then work it out and commit to memory - works fine as long as I play the numbers regularly.

I'd like to spend some time learning to sight read, what suggestions do you guys have to go down this road - books / CD's or perhaps iPad apps or ..............? I'd be really interested to hear from anyone that's learned to read after playing by ear.

  9. Hello Basschatters

I'm looking for an offer around the £350 mark. I can ship locally at buyers expense and risk - just let me know the courier of your choice.

I have up for sale a '1996 Special Edition Fender 50th Anniversary P Lyte' in fantastic condition. She's a really beautiful sunburst finish with chrome hardware and strung with a set of Medium D'Addario half round strings, active electronics and set with a low action. You will see from the photos that it's really in excellent condition, even still has the sticky film on the battery enclosure cover - I very much doubt that you'll ever see another 20 year old P Lyte in this condition. I've been told that this run of P Lyte basses were made specifically for the American market only - the neck plate is original and says 'Fender USA' - I've also been told that this doesn't indicate that it's made in America, it's a made in Japan Fender P-Lyte

I bought this beauty from Pestie (Mike) some three years ago and only ever used it at a couple of rehearsal sessions, I've not played it out and really can't ever see me doing so, it's just wasted under the bed. The bass is, as the name implies, very light the body is almost that of a Fender Stratocaster.

Thanks for looking and enjoy the photos below, please let me know what you have if you're interested in a trade / swap.

    Oggy :)
