That is also my concern. If the head is nice enough, I might keep it, sell/give away/dismantle/burn the cab and start looking for something like a lightweight 2x12 or so...

I'm looking to try and possibly buy [url="http://edinburgh.gumtree.com/edinburgh/01/41660001.html"]this[/url], what do you people think?
I was looking for an alternative to my hartke kickback combo for larger (or louder) gigs, but i am worried that this might be too heavy to carry up a few flights of stairs... However, the price is tempting, and i think it would go really well with my recently-acquired-here T-40...

Incidentally, if any of you recognises the cab, please let me know.

My only personal experience in mis-pricing on label was last year at gatwick airport, where i spotted a small laptop i've been looking up online for some time, priced at about 75% of its RRP (£211 vs £275 RRP). I quickly picked it up and broguht it to the till, where the guy told me that the total was the full £275. I told him that he had it labelled at £211, we went to the stand where the label was, checked serial numbers against the one i picked up, and agreed that that was indeed the advertised price for the item, and charged me accordingly. Obvious pricing mistake and a nice £64 pounds saved.
I bet he would have been far less forthcoming, had price difference been a lot more substantial, such as is the case of the lovely P bass in question.

Again, another anecdote that doesn't prove anything, but at least it's firsthand experience...

So i'll be in Miami for work and then holiday for a couple of weeks. It's the storm season, so i expect to have some time off from lying on the beach (tough, I know, but hey...), and was wondering if anyone knew of some interesting music gear shop in the area...
I'm not looking to buy anything in particular, but you never know, with this weaker dollar an'all...
Any recommendations welcome :-)

I agree, i've bought stuff from them, and regularly visit their shop to try out stuff.
Very nice and helpful staff, good prices, pretty good selection of gear on display.

Name's Marco, I'm an italian living in Edinburgh and I love playing bass.

I'm self-taught and not particularly good, but i've been playing for quite a few years, largely rock/new wave/punk kind of stuff.
For some reason I stopped playing when I moved to Edinburgh in 2001, but after a couple of years in the limbo, I realized that what i was missing was playing bass in a band. Within a few days I armed myself with some new gear and joined a local cover band :-)

I love looking for unusual, good quality and inexpensive gear, mainly because i love hunting for the undiscovered gem...

Current gear:

Fender Aerodyne prec, MIJ a few years ago

Schecter CV4, bought cheaply as backup, but a real surprise!

Westone Thunder 1A, MIJ '83

Epiphone EB0, bought as a joke from a pawn shop and now used extensively

Ibanez SR800 LE, an early soundgear that I bought as a 16 year old, when soundgears where still new...

A no-name acoustic, rarely used

All played through a Hartke Kickback 120, or a Hartke VXL Bass Attack if I can't be bothered to carry the combo.
