I've owned two of these over the years. First one was given to me for free by a retired player back in the late eighties/early nineties and was gigged for over a decade until I sold it on. The second current one in the pic was also donated by an old guitarist aquaintance of mine who rescued it from a skip around 2013. It was fully restored a year later and been my go-to cab since.  Just makes a wonderful deep bass sound and currently at 23kg its not bad considering its size. The originals were 75 watt 8 ohm cabs ( RH115-75) and this one is pimped slightly with an 18mm baffle instead of the original thin fenderish spec 12mm one, a modern high performance 400 watt Neo driver and combi speakons to bring it up to date. I would agree, wonderful and fairly scarce devices these days with plenty life in them yet.

So thats a single 15? Mine was the 2 12 version. I was never sure that it wasn't actually a guitar cab funnily enough, but it certainly did the business in terms of sound.

It had electrovoice 12's in it iirc. Made in Buchanan, MI. They were the days.....😃

Same as it ever is... at the last gig and the next gig. A long chassis ABM, a P-Bass and a big high power folded horn cab for venue shaking bass 😁

I used to have one of those Musicman boxes. Wonderful device.  Got it from the Bass Centre in the late eighties. Came in a flightcase, ex Entwhistle apparently. Due to lack of space after a subsequernt flat move  I had to sell both that and my 810 Trace box (made in Essex). Sorriest move I ever made. regret it to this day....

  3. My experience FWIW. I flew to Spain last week. Bought a seat for the bass- an old Aria Precise- which was cheaper than putting it in the hold. £41 vs £50 and of course it stayed with me at all times. Shockingly straightforward, nobody batted an eyelid at security, on the plane, etc etc. There are instructions on how to book a seat for a guitar on the Ryanair website. I had no trouble with customs at all. There should be no need for a carnet with just a bass, as this comes under your  'personal belongings' allowance.

  4. recently purchased Sean's PJB cabinet off him and what a beast it is. I'm not sure my back (or my wife) will ever forgive me! Sean was very easy to deal with and everything was exactly as he said it would be. Many thanks.

  5. Just bought Marks BBP34 off him.  Exemplary basschatter,  the bass is exactly as described and I'm very happy. Would not hesitate to do business again. Also really liked the fact that Mark refused to take a deposit on the bass 'you've said you want it, its yours'.  A man after my own heart!

Spot on I reckon. If you look at the video you can see the back plate at one point.

Phenomenal and unconventional woodwork on these basses. The neck extends into the body pretty much to the bridge- hence the enormous brass plate.

  7. Hello Folks,

I've recently aquired a rather lovely BB1200 and I'd appreciate some advice about a suitable truss rod wrench.

Any ideas as to what size they are and where I could source one?

Apologies if this has been asked before. I did  a search but couldn't see an answer.

    Many thanks

    Stuart

My local bass tec has disappeared from the Hackney to Jersey, so defo not as convenient for me anymore...

    Came across the following:

Guitar Hospital 253 Rotherhithe St, London SE16 5FX

The Walking Bass 54 Glenhouse Rd, London SE9 1JQ

Graham Parker Luthier   Lewisham, London, SE13

Dunno if any of you London BC'ers have used any of the above or could recommend someone not too far from E3?

@Reggaebass - do you have someone local that you use for more than a basic set up e.g. replacing a preamp?

I used Graham a lot when I lived in South London. he's really good and very friendly. Highly reccomended.  And a +1 for The Gallery if you are up North.

Do you need amp and cab emulation? Do you play In ear gigs? Can you use you tube and google? My understanding is Line 6 have a website.

Bad manners aside it’s like posting do I need crampons or ski’s? No context no idea why you’re  asking the question. Do some digging  and then ask more pointed questions and as a result  *ssholes like me won’t make stupid comments on your post😉

    Well, that told me then.

How dare I ask opinions of fellow bass players....on...erm...a board that is dedicated to the opinions of bass players....🤣
