  1. That looks great. I too dislike the active sound of my jazz elite. It's not bad in passive though. Was going to fit a John East pre but maybe this would be a better option. I wouldn't have even thought of doing this. Thanks.

  2. Have a look at the Facebook page for Ash instruments. I think there's some pictures of that particular bass during construction. Also there's lots of pictures of their other creations, all of which are quite stunning in my opinion, real works of art!

  3. I play in a rock covers band with a fairly loud drummer playing pubs and clubs and usually just take my c8 which is plenty loud enough. I have a c4 too but to be honest it's unnecessary and I prefer the sound of the c8 alone. Most of the stages are tiny so it's small footprint is ideal too. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with a c8 paired with any decent fairly powerful amp.

  4. I have one. It's fantastic. It tricks your brain into thinking your hearing the bass louder so it's great for monitoring. Ideally you need it connected to its own amp otherwise its too powerful in a loud band situation I've found, and hitting a low B feels like your head is going to explode!!!

  5. Just wondering if anyone has tried or bought one of these Indonesian made xotics. If so what do you think? They look really well constructed and finished in the pictures I've seen on the Bass Direct website and I'm very tempted. Seems like a quality bass and excellent value for money?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

  6. I often think it's better to simplify what you play when playing live. I've played with many amateur musicians who constantly overplay in an attempt to stand out and be heard. When you watch pro musicians their playing is usually effortless, doing just what's required. I usually do my own take on a bass line which develops the more I play it live while trying to retain the essence and feel of the original but I've always had trouble remembering stuff note for note. I think you have to do your own thing.

  7. I bought a B stock PJB C4 at a price which seemed to good to be true. I'd never heard of them but took the risk all the same! It arrived within a week in a sealed PJB box totally as new and unmarked. I've since bought a B stock PJB D600 for less than half price, again arrived quickly and as new.

  8. I have a 4b,a c4 and a c8.
The 4b is definitely nicer sounding than the c4 although they have the same speakers apparently. The c8 is simply awesome. I bought the c4 to go with the c8 but to be honest it's unnecessary, the c8 is plenty loud enough for any gig I do and sounds better alone. I don't think you'll regret buying a 4b if you have the chance, or any pjb cab for that matter.
