  1. Well done you guys who sussed it was the cursed cigarette...not only bored bass players but guitarist too used this trick to on endless 12 bar blues solos etc.

sorry no prizes this time as the cupboard is bear after Xmas..🤔

  2. For the eagled eyed and "Vintage " players among us will probably be able to spot this, as the younger players who never

experienced the delights a cancer infested smokey pub /club /gig perhaps not.....no offence or discrimintion intended folks 🤐

note the dark mark near the tuning peg E string..what is it?

    headstock is a 1962 Jazz

  3. As an owner of a 1962 restored Jazz bass as time passes and instruments get older they will need some extra TLC and possible replacement parts i.e. pots frets bridge nut etc. even those that are locked away and never used.. it seems everyone wants a prestine condition vintage but few take the plunge and decide to actually buy one due to the cost of ownership

look around at antique furniture paintings vintage cars etc. most have had some restoration done at sometime

my bass at the time of writing this (2021) is 59 years old to be able to play it live / studio or otherwise it will need some work done they all will

the alternative is to lock it away in a case somewhere and never use it which isnt what I want

on reflection I prefer a restored used instrument ( all my basses and guitars are secondhand ) Im not afraid to take her out and play live if it gets a knock its not the end of the world it can be fixed / restored mended

I paid more for my car at present than the bass..the car is devaluing daily unlike the Jazz.. just my view guys yours will probably be different...

  4. Thanks Dad 3353..

appreciate your help.. of course the good stuff always costs money

just wanted to do one track just to see how it comes out

I've a love / hate relationship with home recording

oh well its a tough old life for some, but seriously thank you...😀

  5. Hi Guys..can anyone recommend a half decent bass vst to use on ableton 11

a free edition would be great a soild rock bass sound would be ideal

tried using DI into scarlett but..albsolute dire sound

    Cheers, john

  6. just to add a comment what people probably dont realise is that there buying a work of art

not a can of beans so to speak..which is the same price more or less wherever you go in the country what one person percieves as expensive another sees as not

you can spend £10- 75k + on a car and drive it off the showroom and it will devalue instantly let alone over the next 5+ years

Absolutely agree. Personally speaking I'm just a sucker for the mojo that an old bass carries, I'd much rather have something that's been around 40-50 years with a few stories to tell than something that's brand new and probably much nicer to play! And you're right, spending a fortune on the right bass now wouldn't necessarily be a bad investment.

Agree with you there friend..most people would rather spend the money on a new car or holiday..but not everyone has the love of old vintages..

A "decent" Fender Precision would be a 2014 American Standard. It's unlikely that you can guarantee that a "vintage" Fender is better than a more recent one.

Any bass or guitar boils down to personal preference and how much you can afford IMO..and Ive played plenty probably more than most on here

I started playing in the early 60s absolute with crap gear clawed my way up to better stuff

I've been looking for a P-bass for a while now but beginning to think the price of a decent one is just not justifiable. I'd like an original sunburst, ideally pre-CBS and definitely one that's been played and has got the scars rather than a case queen but they are crazy money.

What you think is crazy money wont be in 5-10-15 years time

  11. I recently bought a vintage Jbass from Daniel,

at that time I had just come out of hospital and was unable to collect, I wasn't keen on using couriers either, I told him of my dilemma and he actually went out of his way to personally deliver it

add to the mix that on that day I unexpectedly ended up in A&E and wasn't even home at the arranged time, fortunately my wife was and all ended well

so I found him to be honest, reliable and a thoroughly decent human being....Thanks Daniel you're a true star *

  13. Ernie Ball musicman stingray bass, 1997 2EQ in used condition,
has quite a number of knocks and digs on body work....definitly "road worn"
there's a chip on the fretboard near fifth fret (E) but dosent impeed playing ability
overall a great bass apart from the body work, plays as good as any stingray out there,
appreciate it may not be everyone's ideal bass, but if you can see past the knocks then this
may well be a bargain for you....£650
P&P £30 or collection welcome, non MM hardcase inc
need more info or picture's please ask.....
    located london/Essex, M25, junc 26/ 10 mins
