1.
Never had this problem with mine but it had the MK2 pickups (BTB470). Another obvious one but have you got the pickups close enough to the strings? I found about 4mm on the E string about right on mine if I remember correctly.

As far as pickups go your in luck because the nordstrand soapbars fit the MK1 routings, as do the higher end bartolinis. if you had the MK2s you'd be stuck with them though as they are shorter and nothing else fits the routing. I was about to put an East preamp in mine before I sold it, mainly because I hear you can set the EQ centres, the output was if anything a little high on mine though (opposite problem).

Also worth checking there's no loose connections, I've had weak outputs on other basses when somethings loose or shorted that shouldn't be.
Thanks Gareth very helpful....

  2. Hi all,
I have an I banez BTB450 guitar(4 string) that I want to use as a back up guitar to an Ibanez srx7000 that I currently use in my band......The problem is the volume output on the BTB is so low, you would never be able to hear it in the band mix.....we play loud usually covering heavy rock or metal......couple of questions.....If I were to only change the pre amp would this bring the sound level of the guitar up??......If I change the pickups would I need to change the Pre amp as well??....pickups in the guitar are Bartolini mk-1 and a standard 18v preamp(not sure of the model no.).......I like this guitar plays nice, sounds nice, its just too quiet.......

Thanks in advance for any replys.

    Sean.

  3. Chris,
Just watched that clip of him playing with Bernard Edwards on you tube....while Bernard is playing what looks like a fairly complex funky riff, John is just chugging on his low E string with a pick.... :) .....im still not convinced he can play bass that well at all....so who came up with those bass lines in the first place??...I wonder.....

  4. Its rumoured that John Taylor cant really play bass at all, he was just put in there for his looks and mimes when they play live......Having watched clips of the band over the years im inclined to agree....I think Lozz196 is right about them multi tracking his bass, as he is supposed to be playing quite complex bass lines but jumping around on stage like a two year old as he does it.....I dont think so....

EHX QBalls Enigma - hardly used since i got it off here 2nd hand, with its box manual and a generic PSU. 75 posted
EHX Bass Big Muff - again bought it from here and used it once. Beautiful fuzz goodness, made me feel like Wolstenholme. with box. 40 posted
Boss BF-3 Flanger - Slicer mofo and all the rest. unboxed but 35 quid posted. cant go wrong
Aguilar Tonehammer - its a great preamp with psu and box. great condish. 120 posted
Possibly a VT Bass Deluxe - this one is used three times at home, in love with it but amp is more important. 210 posted!!!!

yeah i use a Blowtorch with my band,it pretty much nails Motorheads ace of spades sound and also does a good job of covering Muse type tones on the other extreme. Really versatile pedal.

  7.
I need it for a Muse song at the moment. I might sell it when I decide what I'm doing longer term - watch this space but don't hold your breath :)
Ah shame....would have had it off you for the money you were asking as it looks a good pedal.....never mind.

  8.
Selling my MXR blowtorch off, bought it from here to try it out, although I do like it, I prefer my blogger. The pedal works perfectly fine, no marks battery compartments are intact, the only problem is a couple of the knobs stick at certain points, it has never affected me using it and it doesn't affect the pedal.

    I paid £60 for it so that's what I'd like back :)

Would also consider another ehx bass blogger as a part trade with some cash my way
