    VDGG are superb live ... particularly in their current trio format ... I was blown away by Childlike Faith in Childhood's End when I saw them earlier this year. I must admit to being impressed by Hugh Banton's bass lines ... especially because, live, he plays them with his feet while he's playing keyboards. I have enough trouble with just my two hands as it is ...

    I'm hardly jealous at all :)

    I saw MTWA in Glasgow a couple of years ago ... they were fantastic. MT's bass is as much a part of the classic Wishbone Ash sound as the twin guitars.

    For me it was a Google search back in 2005 when I was looking to take up bass again after a 20 year hiatus. I came across Bassworld, registered and bought my Cort A4. Then my son was born early, I've had to work away from home most weeks and I've hardly had a chance to play the bloody thing :)

    Not playing much doesn't stop the GAS though ... :huh:

    Up to 2.75%, depending upon your credit/debit card provider. I recently got Nationwide credit and debit cards because they don't charge any commission (which is great for using the hole in the wall when you're abroad).

    I'd also consider a Cort Artisan A4 which I believe is made in the same factory to an almost identical spec. When I bought mine I played both the SR900 and the A4. They were virtually identical but the A4 simply felt better in my hands. It was also £100 cheaper!

    I don't actually have a volume pedal ... I was just around when the loud discussion was taking place ... but I'll see if I can borrow one in a couple of weeks and play about with it. My best guess (as a starting point for playing around) would be to put it after distortion / flange / chorus but before delay / reverb. Don't know if I'd ever really want to use one though :)

    I need to start off by saying I know nothing about volume pedals ... that's why I'm asking the question! However, I was party to a (admittedly alcohol fuelled) debate between a guitarist and an engineer at the weekend. The guitarist was adamant that, in his experience, the volume pedal should be at the beginning of the effects chain as it gives him more control; the engineer claimed it should be at or near the end in order that the signal strength to the effects in the chain should be as near optimal as possible and the volume pedal applied to the best possible signal. He then questioned the guitarists aural ability and the debate went downhill from there :)

    Any opinions?

    Has anyone tried the Line6 Verbzilla? Apart from the crap name, the reviews I've seen are all quite positive. I hope to do a comparison with an RV-5 sometime soon but wondered if anyone has an opinion.

    I'm by no means an effects expert (and I could be talking bollocks for your needs :)) but I use a ToneFactor Copperhead which is a 2 channel boost pedal which gived you plenty of overdrive when you use both channels together.     Another +1 for Diago ... and their customer service is excellent. I asked James if a 12V cable was available and he made one up for me.
