  1. I've paid it on second-hand kit from the 'States as well, Karlfer. Still, I've dodged HMRC's Pound of flesh many times by getting geetars taken back from ther USA by friends and holidaymakers. That balances things out.

BTW, watch out for them getting the commodity codes wrong. Always check your charges. It will take you weeks or months to get them back if they are erroneous but if you persevere you will!

To be fair, Jaco did play fretted basses too. And he did bolt a maple Precision neck on to the 'bass of doom' body for that instructional video when he was badly on the slide (mentally). Mind you it was maple, not rosewood ...

I had the VHS of that and, my God, it was appalling!

FWIW, I recall International Musician doing an interview with him back in '77 or '78. In it, the author relates how JP opened up a double-flightcase to reveal two Jazzes. One appeared to be the BOD and another had a fretted Precision neck on it, which JP used to practice his stretching on. Unfortunately, I can't recall whether that neck had a maple or a rosewood 'board.

If that doesnt deserve an almighty slagging, I dunno what does! Oh,.wait....this has already been crucified on here and on 7string forum!

MDP deserves a slagging for what he does to these guitars. And his prose is choice as well. If he stopped selling, ebay and Basschat would be less entertaining for it!

I'm unfamiliar with the work of this masterful artist - are there any links to his masterpieces of which I should be aware ?
