Steve Harris of Iron Maiden. The first time I heard the band, the first time I saw the images, the first time I saw them live, the first time I heard/saw that bass, I had to play bass. I was lucky enough to support British Lion in December, and play through his Iron Maiden cabs (only 1 of the 4 he brought out with him), and I got to chat to him as a “peer”. What a brilliant, engaging and funny guy he is. Mind blown. 16 year old me would never believe it was possible ☺️⭐️

Afternoon one and all, I hope you are well and keeping safe. Just a quick question, if you don’t mind. I’m thinking of buying an Orange OBC212 cab. I had the pleasure of playing through a rig made up of 12” speakers in December, and the sound was simply amazing. It got me thinking that I may go down this route.
Have any if you owned, or played through this particular Orange cabinet? If so, what style of music do you play, what bass, and how did you find the can response/sound?
I’m in a heavy progressive rock band using Fender Precision’s, and a Vigier Excess 5. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, and stay safe. Cheers, Matt ⭐️

damn guys, why has nobody bought this yet?
great price for a new awesome bass!GLWTS
I know, but I guess it’s a weird time for everyone, so money is obviously tight. Thanks though, appreciated ⭐️

Vigier Excess 5 has 18mm string spacing. One for sale on here, too 😉

I’ve just pulled the trigger on the new Fender Ultra Precision in Artic Pearl. It should be here next week. I’m very excited, and I’ll let you know when it has arrived 😬
I really, really appreciate all of your help. It was extremely useful. Thank you. 🙏🏻

I don’t think they have a tone control for some reason so lots of people add them. Yes the SB body is lovely, like a slimmed down and more comfortable P.
That’s right, they have 2 volume controls. I get the idea behind it, but seems a little strange. Agree though, lovely looking things.

Plenty of options here. Aside from my '66 Precision, the P bass that I gig regularly is the Highway One iteration. I've has a few different versions over the years (Squier Affinity, MIM, MIJ, Nate Mendel, American Special, American Standard) but this one seems to be sticking.
Hard to say why particularly but the neck is great, the weight is very comfortable and I must be one of the only people in the world who quite likes the Grease Bucket tone circuit. Obligatory pic.:
That looks so lovely. I had a ‘64 refin that I sold on. I have concluded that I definitely want a P/J config. I also want a modern take on the classic. Thanks so much for your help.

G&L SB1 is the best P bass imo. Lovely things. Not just because I have one for sale!
I really do love the look of the SB-2, Ped. Finding a new US is impossible over here. I have decided that I definitely want a PJ configuration. That helps. I did look at your bass, and it’s amazing. Thanks for your input.

Possible trade options added.
It is in “out of the factory” condition. Not a single mark in this bass. Grab a real bargain ✌🏼

Definitely 4 of us, and more to follow I should imagine.......

Ultra has Modern 'D' NECK it is shallow in sense your thumb is closer to fretboard and allows you to stretch fingers easier on fretboard; it is far from chunky and yes should give it a play. I find it extremely comfortable, fast and easy to play; also neck width is only 1.625 so good for even small hands.
I thought 1.5/38mm necks were for Guitar Players who were sentenced to playing bass by bandmates😀
Thank you so much. Very good to know. Appreciated 🙏🏻

I did notice that the compound radius, and the truss rod adjustment had changed on the Ultra’s. Also, I believe, on the Ultra, the nut is 1mm smaller than the Elite. I have a friend with an Elite, so shall approach him to see if he wouldn’t mind me having a play. Thanks for you input, much appreciated 🙏🏻

Thank you, Paul. There are some really lovely combinations to be achieved via Maruszczyk. I’ve been on their configurator a lot lately 😂

Thank you so much. That is precisely the kind of info I am after. Brilliant. I have been looking around a lot, and the US G&L SB-2 as well as the Shuker P/J’s have also got me interested. Thanks again 🙏🏻

It’s my birthday today, and feeling very chilled which has led me to now opening this up to offers. Try me with a figure, you may be surprised, as I may be drunk 🥴 😂 Cheers ☺️

I can attest to the Fender Ultra Precision; Solid build, quality Preamp, Vintage Passive tone and the playability/feel is fantastic. Mine weighted in at 8.5lbs with redesigned body contours very comfortable to wear.
Thank you. Which one did you buy? How is the neck?

Thank you. I will get to try a Fender later this week, not like the one in the pic, but still an Ultra. That should help things a little. I will also try and get to BD, and try the “M” bass. It is very close to call. All input is appreciated ⭐️
-
Thanks for your insight. May I ask what you think the edge of the “M” was, for you, over the Fender?
-
I may have to. Not exactly local, but a great idea. Thanks ⭐️

Seeking the advice, knowledge and expertise from the BC community, please. It’s a significant birthday soon and therefore, I’m looking but something to mark it. I’m thinking of going back to 4 string bass, and if I do, I definitely want to go back to my first “love”,the Precision.
The new Fender Ultra looks amazing, and having done some research, the Maruszczyk basses have been getting some amazing feedback. I’ve configured the “M” to what I feel is my perfect spec, but I’ve never played one. I can go and try the Fenders, any time. I’m worried that if I buy the “M”, what happens if I don’t like it.
Has anyone done an A/B test between these 2 basses? If so, what are your thoughts. The basses I have dejected are exactly the same price. Too close to call. Any help, insights etc would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance ☺️
