I'm more than happy to play bass parts on a synth. To be honest I'd prefer to hear a synth doing it for anything lower than bottom E - I think it sounds much better than any 5 string bass.
-
Rick Neilson also played on Double Fantasy, along with Tony Levin.
Cheap trick sometimes play a version of "I'm losing you" in their live set - there's a great version of it on the "Silver" double live CD. -
So, judging by everybodies comments above, using a 300 watt head with this cab would be a waste of time, yes?
I'm disappointed I must say... thought this thread was going to be about the most effective method of wrestling a skinny-stringer to the floor...
Same here.
I was going to suggest a pool cue across the knees & then CS gas (or chloroform if you're old fashioned like me). -
Hi Shockwave,
Thanks for your comments , but in my mind I thought it better to refinish a cheap BC Rich to make it look the way I NEED it to look than to B*STARDISE a lovely expensive through neck model. Don't you think this makes sense?
Why would you refinish something that looks like this?
http://www.giggear.co.uk/p/BC-Rich-Mocking...e-Classic-Bass/
Surely that would be sacrilegious?
Once again thanking you for your continued support.

The one you've attached a link to isn't "a lovely expensive neck through model", it's just one of the import lines. As such I'd have no qualms about hacking it to bits.
Refinishing a 70s Short horn Mockingbird - now THAT would be sacrilegious! -
If you just want strings use should use Stringbusters or Strings Direct. They'll probably be cheaper & they both deliver really quickly. They're also really on the ball with having stock marked as available or not.
GAK have got a bloody terrible reputation for not having things in stock when they're advertised as available on their website. -
This is getting to be a very familiar story........
My old Trace Elliott AH150 head went dead mid gig - no dramatic bangs or smoke, just cut out. Luckily I was DI'd as well so I just got a bit more bass put through my monitor & carried on.
God I hated that amp (even before that happened). -
Gibson also polish all their guitars with panda skins, the bastards.
(BTW-This isn't actually true). -
There's only one Christmas song that doesn't make me want to spew my ribcage up, and that's the Waitresses one.
Thanks mate!!! So glad you enjoyed it.... you may have noticed I played some.... errr....'interesting' notes when my eyes were being diverted elsewhere by the dancers during 'Modern Day Delilah'! lol!!!
I thought you all did remarkably well considering the on-stage distractions during that song.
"Ace" was a total pro dealing with the various gremlins he had to contend with that evening as well.
Sorry I couldn't stick around to say hello - I had to be up for work at 4.30 the following morning.
Monster bass sound as well! -
What a fantastic night!
Dressed to Kill were absolutely f***ing superb!
Great "support act" too........ -
Mine was about 9lbs.

Is this a pre-fender model?
That's no use, no use at all. Firstly, he claims it was his father's when it should obviously have been his uncle's. Secondly, there's no mention of an attic, cellar or woodshed anywhere.
Meanwhile, I don't know much about Levinson Blades. What's special about them?
They're just excellent quality instruments with very well thought out electronics. Excellent quality control and consistency too. They have been referred to in the past as "The European Sadowsky".
I part exchanged my custom built Jaydee for one of these B4 basses at the bass centre in Wapping 20 years ago & never regretted it for a second. I'd still be playing it now if I hadn't started to find jazz profile necks too small.
I've still got an old Levinson Blade Texas Standard Strat type guitar & that's bloody lovely as well; better than any Fender I've ever played. -
I shall be at the Cardiff gig.
-
Why not just buy a multimeter? You can use them for 1000s of other things as well as testing batteries & a good basic one can be bought for less than a tenner.
you're not the last - I've still not found a Warwick I liked
Same here.
I just can't get past the (to me) extreme ugliness of their body shapes. The only one they make I think has a nice shape is the Streamer, and they nicked that off Spector. -
Levinson Blade B4 super Jazz with the lawsuit headstock. Just like the one I used to have (only mine was purple).
£400 is an absolute steal for one of these.
If you're looking for a Jazz style bass for around the £400 mark you won't get better than this IMO. Awesome quality - ash body, rock maple neck & ebony fingerboard.

It looks like it was designed by Picasso.
I can sort of see where he's coming from with the top six bass strings - it's like the old harp guitars.
The bottom set of strings is anyone's guess..... -
Awesome!
I'll be at the Cardiff gig on the 20th. -
That's a lovely looking bass Hadrien is playing.
Ah, the Skjold Offset Whaleback
Although each to their own etc... TBH I could probably come around to the idea if it plays really nicely, which I bet they do!

YE GODS!!!
That monstrosity is the John Merrick of bass guitars. -
I'd just like to say that I've had instruments shipped by USPS & without exception they've been with me within 7 days.
My Hamer 12 string bass arrived from the US in 2 days!
Okay, so who here has twins?
