Nice historic venue, an old Cinema. I've played a function upstairs there. With any luck the snow will have all cleared by then...!

Have a good gig, you were missed IMHO at Bath!

    Cheers mate.

  2. I expect a fair few of you have heard of this player. For those that haven't, I recommend you check him out. He's rarely mentioned in lists of top players, but he is a serious virtuoso. If you think you've seen every technique, then you might be surprised. He's also a monster groover. Search him on YouTube and you'll see lots of performances, plus a breakdown of his technique.

  3. I can't seem to embed this on here from my laptop. If you search ZUM F.U.N.K on Youtube (not the remix), there's a track I recorded with a band in the early 90s. I came up with the bass part, which was played on a Tobias Classic 5 straight into the desk.

The brass parts are from an album George Clinton released, allowing people to use his samples for free.

  4. I've had some personal problems lately. Because of these, I've been told to have a break from Nearly Dan. I'm gutted, of course. If anyone is thinking of going to see the band from now until January/February, I won't be on the gig. I'm not sure if I'll get the gig back, even though the band was originally my idea. 17 years and I've never missed a gig.

Damn and blast, I'm already doing something Sat, only 5 min drive away too, curse you and your lack of forward planning! You might have mentioned it last week!

Good luck and have fun, the Stables is a great venue :)
