  1. I know this sub ject has been discussed before. I have been suffering from painful finger joints in both hands for some time. I take a high dose of glucosamine every day. Just lately I can barely close my fingers in the morning (no masturbation jokes, please). It eases as the day goes on. I did a gig last night and today the joints are quite painful. I've starting taking other supplements and fish oil.

    Any advice would be welcome.

  2. I've been watching Al McKay and his band on YouTube, performing an Earth, Wind and Fire greatest hits set. The band sounds as good, if not better than EWF. There's a clip where he's introducing the band, and they're all amazing session musicians. The bassist is great.

I was wondering how he could put that set together. Is it the same as a tribute band doing the same thing, or can he do this because he had writing credits on these songs?

  3. I've just had my hands on a USA Fender Dimension IV, maple neck model, two pickups. It has active bass, mid and treble cut and boost, and a 5-way switch that selects different coils within the humbuckers. Lots of sound options, including a lovely back pickup growl, smoother than a Stingray, a great slap sound, and a great P-Bass sound. The bass plays like a dream.

These should hit shops around December. A seriously great new bass from Fender.

Pleased to hear the gig went well Pete.

It's a venue I used to do in the DSO days and my biggest memory of it is that the management always kept us waiting for about an hour to load-in and then expected us to be loaded out and gone within 10 minutes of the last chord being struck.

    Happy days!! :gas:

I trust that it's improved and/or is under new management now?

I seem to recall that it is where Frank Skinner learned his trade in the early days? I think Snarky Puppy did it earlier this year too.

VERY pleased to hear that it is still trading. anyway. ;)

Hi mate, good to hear from you. Birmingham is typically a no-Dan zone, but that was a good gig.

  5. I've got a '78 Jazz. It came with a set of DR Marcus Miller strings and sounded great. When I was ready for a change of strings, I stuck some Roto Nickels on. The sound had all but disappeared, so I stuck some DRs back on.

    Strings make all the difference.

Oh come on! This is a conspiracy! Brighton would work for me brilliantly, but......I'm away in the Cotwolds on Saturday; boo!

Have a great one, I'll catch you another time (unless it is a conspiracy of course ;) )
