    See you there, mate.

I was at your gig at the Guildhall gloucester. Excellent gig. Now I know about it I will be at the hare and hounds gig too.
It's a nice venue, small and most bands there play far too loud. If I get a chance I'll say hi.

    Cheers mate...definitely say hello.

OK. However I've just looked at you last more usual gig post (for the gig in Crewe). That got 45 views for a single post. That's 45 people who were interested enough in your gig in Crewe to have a look at the thread, and possibly 45 people who might not have known you were playing otherwise. I don't know if anyone on here went to that gig, but for the 30 seconds it would have taken you to start the thread, a potential 45 people going is pretty good IMO. Even if just one person went to the gig as a result of seeing your post that's a good result.

If you look at my original post, which read FREE SEX IN CREWE, and which I posted in 'General Discussion', and which Hamster eventually moved to the 'Gigs' section, it's ended up with 866 views. A joke which everyone seemed to get, but was rightly pulled up by Hamster. Apologies there.

Which goes to prove that sex always sells and we're all perverts.

Pete, are you expecting people to reply to your threads in gigs?

It's an ad. I don't expect any response to mine. If people are going to be there, they'll be there and maybe they'll come and say hi at some point in the evening. I don't expect anyone else to be posting in my gigs threads because unless it's to point out that I've made a mistake there's not really that much need.

And posting might not boost gig attendance much, but it takes 5-10 minutes to do and once you've done it here, the code is good for any other suitable forum that you take part in. Personally I can't see any down side.

Good point. It's not replies but views.

  5. I'm not sure if I'm the first person to make this comment, but the 'GIGS' thread seems an absolute waste of time. You can see the tumbleweed blowing across it. For my last gig I made a joke to get a better response, and it was a success until I got a slap on the wrist.

Can we get the 'GIGS' more prominent in the forum?

  6. I have a high-end bass. I bought it because I could afford it at the time. I never think of it as an investment. It plays and sounds like a dream. To me it's just a great working bass. If I could afford to buy a bass as some kind of investment, it would be a custom Ritter.

I had a 1983 Steinberger L2. I decided to sell it and thought it might have been worth a couple of grand. I ended up selling it for 1400. I paid 950 in 1983, which was a trade price. Not really a great investment.

Guitars are not good investments. Even if you have a 1969 Precision, which would be worth about $4000, you have to realize that when it was purchased it cost $400, which in todays market is about $2000. So it would take over 40 years to make about 500 pounds. Hardly a fiscal coup.

    Totally agree.

T'was indeed a great gig. Pete and the band are top notch and put on a great show. It was good to meet Pete and Kev(lurksalot) and I hope we can do it again soon. Pete, you need to get yourself a decent bass, that Roscoe is rubbish. ;) I'll gladly up it in a skip for you.
Don't miss ND when they play in your area, highly recommended.

Thanks Sam, really appreciate you making it. I'll let you know when I decide to get rid of the Roscoe. ;)

I would like to offer a review of last nights offering in Crewe , but I didn't get any of the free sex that was promised ;) and while Pete and (Bassman) Sam are great company, a gig broke out

A great show Pete , really top draw musicianship , quality sound delivery and myself and Sam were very impresssed with the backing singers moves , especially when she was jumping up and down whilst hitting the cowbell on my old school :gas:

It was great to meet you and Sam and I will definitely be along to another show at some point .

Thanks, mate. Good to meet you both. It was one of those gigs where everything came together - great onstage sound, lovely audience.

Thanks for making the effort to come, and I hope to meet you both again.
