    Cheers fine fellow of Swindon. Appreciate it. Just looking at my Sony rechargeable. Says capacity is 120mAh. Any idea where that fits in the spectrum? Is that high or can I do better?

  2. Hi all

    I have a nice Yamaha BBEast Active 5er. Only thing is that when the battery dies it gives no warning and emits an ear piercing squeal through the rig. Happened twice on gigs and stopped the band and punters dead in their tracks. I'm paranoid on gigs now. I always put a fresh battery in there to be sure in but it gets expensive.

    I also have a lovely early 80s BB1100s which just switches to passive when the 9V dies which is great. (Why couldn't they just keep that concept going?) Wondering if it might be possible to mod the 5er to do the same thing.

    Any ideas on this would be appreciated brothers and sisters.

  3. I bought a 1950 from the very lovely Ollie through BC. Brought it home through rush hour on the tube. Easy to carry. I'm a greenhorn on DB but its very friendly to play. Looking to replace the end pin which is shot. Took it to my teacher tonight. He was impressed by how easy it was to play. Lovin' it. Thanks Ollie.

  4. Haha. Touche. Unfortunately I only became a fan of JJ long after I started playing and old habits had set in. He used heavy flat wounds and never changed them so he had that great fat muted sound, even on the open strings. :D[size=4] [/size]

  5. I prefer to leave the open strings out of the equation as much as possible. Mainly because I struggle to transpose to different keys if there are open strings involved. Can't remember why I do this but somewhere along the way someone said it was the best approach so I'm stuck now.

    Guess Its a style thing. If you generally play muted/staccato then a big ringy open string is going to sound off unless you mute it a bit.

    But agree with Jellyknees ... who's to say ..... Different Strokes etc. ([i]Whatcha Talkin 'Bout Willis![/i])

  6. Oooooh .... I'm nearly convinced. Sounds like great customer service. (I need to lie down for a bit and think about this.)

    How did you know where to fit the bridge? Do they send you the instructions on how to put it together?

    Also the website says they [i]prepare it in the workshop according to your wishes[/i]. Did you get them to do anything in particular to it beforehand?
