I think I took it to BassBros...

If I remember correctly - there's a Seymour Duncan preamp inside rather than stock one :).

I saved this bass from CashConverters a few years ago, lovely instrument

Never had a problem with mine, looks the same distance as other Dingwall models to my eyes.

I had one of these, and the ONLY reason it went was to get a custom shop ABZ. Would have quite happily kept it for years otherwise.

Big oof. Good luck with the sale - someone will get an amazing instrument.

Kept as a backup for my RM800 for a while - now too big for my new cab.
In reasonable condition, works great except for valve drive circuit which is noisy/scratchy when blended but does function hence low price, could just need a new 12AX7.Now free to collect, it's that or a charity shop.
Collection only, Bromsgrove (M42/M5 junctions).

Again, what you're doing is taking something unplayable and making it playable. Your time and the skill to fix it have value, so that's not necessarily the same thing. It means someone can now enjoy the instrument.
I've heard that lots of shops buy stock online.
That said, i've also many times bought something because I know it was underpriced and I could definitely at least break even. I've always played them for a bit to see if it works for me (with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions), but as I look at the rack, none of them are still here.

I am late to the party here, but definitely consider myself an opportunistic flipper.
My most recent was a Cort A6 listed as faulty for £200. I had it repaired within 30 minutes at home (new pot and switch) and then PX'd for £350 a couple of weeks later. The buyer even said in person it was worth more repaired, but they didn't want the hassle. I felt no guilt here.
I have calmed down recently, as the continual carousel is tiring (maybe I could play what I have?!), as well as the market drying up as people are more aware of what things are worth. I also know in the past certain well known shops have acquired stock privately on FB etc.

So if we're too noisy we can send you round to apologise to your former neighbours.
They were miserable buggers and the thought of annoying them pleases me greatly, that said - they are probably demised by now.

I'm free for this also.
Interesting I used to live about 200m away from the venue.

Superb basses - I had one for a bit (white) and it was awesome, the Neve preamp is great.

Combustions and NGs i've had (a total of 5) were 9-10lb, my D-Roc being just under 10lb. My SP-1 was 9lb.
I've picked up some Combustions in shops that were 10+, I think wood variation was the issue here.
However my ash ABZ is under 8lb, this headless Effigy I would expect to be the same or even less.

Are these a Canadian bass or an import MIC bass?
Canadian. I'd assume an import option may occur in the future but these parts look very bespoke and if it does happen, I'd guess it won't be for at least 2 years.

Nice one. I've been hoping for a headless Dingwall for ages. I think they dropped the ball on this and are now playing catch up on multiscale headless with Ibanez (and Strandberg, Hils, Sire)
I know they've been in development at least 3 years, I think Sheldon really wanted to get the design right - but agree they are a bit late to the party. I also expected a much more different body design to the Afterburner, but it is unmistakably a Dingwall.
Not for me (i've just got an ABZ), but would definitely have a crack on one.

My Dingwall is away for repair! I’m a bass down! But yes. The Stingray is gonna be going.
What's up with it ? My solution to such a terrible situation would be to have 2.

Always been into 5 strings since I was a nu-metal teenager 25 years ago, and this has not changed. I've had pretty much every popular 4 string going and always find myself going for something more modern (and 5/6 string), the 'traditional basses' just don't work for me overall. Although I do have a P with flats for occasional use.

I am a total fanboy for Dingwalls so am going to big them up, however that is BECAUSE of the B string. For clarity and harmonics, I think nothing beats them.

How does the Dingwall SP1 sound compared to a Dingwall John Taylor?
I had both briefly. The JT definitely covers some sounds but due to scale length and pickup type/positions does sound different.
Would both be beneficial ? Not in my opinion if just about tones - the JT can do similar sounds but obviously has a very different feel. If you want a shorter than 37" scale for 'easier' reaches then yes, it could be useful.
n.b. I kept the SP1

Hey all. I've just come into possession of an RM 800 EVO 3 and could do with a bag for it. What are you guys using for yours? I see there is an official Ashdown bag for the RMs but it doesn't mention the EVO 3 at all when talking about which amps fit in it so I'm unsure whether it would be okay
Late response, but I have the bag, all 3 of the EVOs fit.

Is this setup normal tuning? I’d always had in my head that these are tuned down and run F#-B rather than B-G but I might be wrong or you may have set yours up differently?
The Taranis 4 is BEAD, the 5 is a normal 5 string tuning.
