+100000000000, it really shows how stupid some people are :)

  2. Right,

I bit the bullet and ordered a pair of KRK RP6 G2, they've arrived today and I yet have to set them up properly but so far I have played some music through it an my god how different does it sound to what I was actually hearing previously. They are crystal clear and are so unforgiving on the little bits and it amazes me how much difference does a set of ''dedicated'' speakers make.

  3. I'm still thinking about the raffle for some reason :)

Having thought about it for a long time I can donate the following :

    Line 6 UX1 usb recording interface http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/78819

    or

TKL semi-hard case and Stagg ABS hard case http://www.djmmusic.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=TKL6036
    and http://www.andertons.co.uk/hard-cases/pid1...ectric-bass.asp

The choice is your basschat, I'm happy to donate both on the condition that we raise at least a £100 for the charities.

    Cheers
    Jack

  5.
AS I SAID BEFORE.

Im new here, and cant believe the agression towards Mark King..

He's done so much for bringing bass to the fore, prob more than anyone in the last 30 years.

And to those who just dismiss him as a machine gun slap-bassist...you need to open your minds and ears and really have a listen to Level 42...
Mark is a top top class finger style player too!! as good as anyone on the planet!!...he plays with lots of heart and is well- brilliant at either style he chooses to play....and is a great singer too (the fact that he sings at the same time as playing such amazing basslines is incredible)...give their music and albums a real good listen and dont just dismiss him......who on here has achieved as much as Mark? nobody!!

    LISTEN TO THE MUSIC.
First of all the fact you're new here doesn't come into play on this specific subject.

Second of all don't dismiss others opinions on assumption that they haven't listened to Level42.

Thirdly if he's as good in fingerstyle as anyone on the planet means that he's not that good.

Fourthly, just because he's singing whilst w***ing the fretboard doesn't mean anything, I sing when cleaning my toilet but that doesn't make me a great musician. There are better singer/bassists out there.

He didn't do much for the musical world really, he hasn't come up with anything new and I haven't heard of him until I started coming on here.

You are right on one thing, none of us achieved what he did. Being despised and called "fretboard w***er" by loads of people is really something that none of the lot on here has managed to achieve.

Mark King is overrated, get over it and go and listen to some proper funk.

  6.
Fair enough but this still doesnt show how im wrong, as you pointed out.

In the 30 odd years ive been going in to the west end ive always found prices to be high.
By Worng I meant that just becauses a business is situated in West End does not mean it gives them the right to rip people off. I can undesrtand slightly inflated prices but not what some of the music shops in demark st were doing. I think that if they understood that more custom will come from more reasonable prices they would make a good living but not with what they're charging. I've seen profit margins of more than 400% in my life but that doesn't mean the company was right to charge those prices. For this reason I am very picky with my shopping because I'm aware how much things cost the seller, call me a cynic Or whatever you want but I stand by my belief, west end location does not give rights to high prices and is actually very bad for the business.

  7.
Wrong? How so?.
Are you saying that its not a tourist area or its not understandable that prices are higher?

I was replying to the post about a set of DR Black Beauties for £40. Strings direct sell them for £35 so a £5 mark up is pretty normal i would have said.
No one was talking about the 6 string set.
Yes I know which strings the post was about, I'm getting at the "west end" prices, fair enough it's a tourist are but in essence this is the main reason the axe fell on music ground, ridiculous prices and rude staff. £5 I can understand but £20 is a bit of a joke tbh.

  8.
Thats just west end prices though. Everything is expensive in the west end.
WRONG!

Sorry but just because they are in west end does not warrant a £62 for a set of Dr Lo-Riders for a 6-string bass when they are £20 cheaper on most expensive websites...
