1. Thanks for clarifying that! I had my suspicions but wasn't too sure. All makes sense now. I had this idea in my head that by shoving twice as much power into the cab it would shift more air, this is of course not the case . I should probably just take the plunge and fork out for a Hydrive 115 and be done
2. Hi there, Was just putting all my gear in a new rack case and was putting a splitter in to have mp3 player and guitar plugged in at the same time, and wondered... If I was to put one of these splitter cables (Y-Harness, female to 2 males), in both the speaker outputs of my Hartke LH500 and then plug them into the one input on my Hartke Hydrive 410, would I be able to send the double the power to the cab, and effectively send the full 500w from the amp (rather than the 250 or whatever it is with one output at 8ohms), or would it just go pop? The cab is rated at 1000watts at 8ohms. So it would look something like this.. LH500 Output><---\____<>Hydrive 410 Input LH500 Output><---/ Rather than the usual... LH500 Output><---\____<>Hydrive 410 Input LH500 Output| I tried to work it out logically but have no experience to draw upon for this particular example! Roob
3. Good idea Kermitnt. Just a thought, I have done all the editing and listening etc through nice headphones, which might be making it easier to hear bass frequencies etc. Perhaps it will sound different through a set of desktop speakers?
4. Is "Cover" a swearword here?
5. New recording, Bad Company cover... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Zib-KdXFZ0

7. Little update, did 1 practice with it and it sounded good, although still need time to get it dialed in suitably with the rest of the band. Second practice it died on me. I had power, as the light was on for the power switch, but no sound at all. Plugged in the MAG300 they had there and problem went. No idea whats wrong, will have a fiddle and take it back to the shop if I have no luck. Anyone else ever had reliability issues with Hartke?

Dodgy Pedals

Yeah, I did have a listen to the Juggernaught on their website. It did sound a bit odd, certainly not what I was after. The RAT sounds nice though. Suspect I will be adding one to the shopping list

Dodgy Pedals

Had a look at the Pro co website, are the RAT and Turbo RAT for guitars? The Juggernaught seems to be specifically for bass, or am I right in thinking it doesn't really matter? Signal goes in...box does it's work...signal comes out, regardless of the instrument .

Dodgy Pedals

Hmm, will try switching pedals around to see if there is a noticeable difference. Got a mains power lead for it, battery in bass is brand new. Will do a check though incase it's a dud. Steve - I remember reading about that, possibly mine has finally gone. Thanks for the suggestions.

Dodgy Pedals

Hi, Got two pedals currently. A Zoom 607 and an Ibanez PD7 Phathead. I recently repaired the Zoom (loose 1/4 jack), resoldered it onto the PCB inside. However the PD7 seems to have lost it's distortion and OD almost completely. I.e. when it's turned on, sometimes it sounds no different to my clean signal, and sometimes it has only a slight effect. Last night it died completely and I had to remove it from my setup to allow me to play. Is it time for me to bin it? If I do end up getting another, examples of the sound I am after would be "Blur - Song2" and "Feeder - Buck Rogers". Any suggestions? I was never quite able to get the right sound out of the PD7, but I can't decide if thats because it was faulty or because it wasn't what I was after. Oh one more thing...does the way I have my pedals setup have any effect on the sound I will get? Thanks.
12. Selfish bump... Anyone had a listen? Don't have to give any feedback, just interest to know if anyone managed to listen without turning it off halfway through .
13. Picked up a LH500 this morning, plumbed it into my Behringer...wow...even on a less than superb cab like that it sounds fantastic, highly reccomended! Girlfriend was complaining her desk was shaking upstairs Now for the 115 ...
14. Fantastic idea. However looking at the list, I will probably have saved up the pennies and bought one before it reaches Ipswich!
15. Well...I tried the LH500 and Hydrive 115, and it has completely changed my opinion of other brands. I'm sold. Its so easy to get the sound I was after with that (and the power...oh my), whereas I felt like I was fiddling most of the time by comparison with the Ashdown kit. Alex - Is there much of a waiting list on your compact at the moment? Lemmywinks - I'm in Ipswich, couldn't be further away! Also investigating whether I have a car big enough to fit the VX215 in! Fiat 500 or Mazda RX-8 to choose from...neither very suitable .
16. Can I ask what the dimensions are? Am interested...if it will fit in a Fiat 500 Which is actually the girlfriends car, I can only just fit my 4x10combo and 2x10 in a Mazda RX-8 .
17. Thanks Alex, that clears up a few things. I've listened to a couple of video's of the Hartke Hydrives, I'm really starting to fall for them. Perhaps it's worth saving my pennys and going for a nice LH500 with a HX115, and perhaps a HX410? Although would prefer a 2x10 for transport purposes. I know a place that definately has Hydrives, so might go for a play at the w/e.
18. I'll be honest, i've no idea if the LG sounds anything like the ABM/MAG. I should try one I know, but have yet to find one anywhere to have a play with :| Looking at the LH500, that looks quite nice. I remember seeing a guy live with a full Hartke setup, and I loved the sound. Again, unless I can find one to try though, i'm having to go on other peoples opinions / experiences. Thanks for the advice, going to need to have a think about this one. Oh one more thing. When i tried the Ashdown ABM400 115, with the ABM 400 head and the Behringer, at higher volumes, i.e. 3/4 or more on the input and output dials, I noticed I was starting to lose the clean bass sound I got with less volume. Which cab do you think was giving out first? The Ashdown because it's rated to 400w (same as head) or the Behringer because...well it's not a fantastic cab (but it is rated to 600w). Either that or it was just the sound of the shop shaking that made it hard to hear .
19. If it's the one i'm thinking of, I almost bought it, but someone else got there before me I was looking at Outshined's sale. I'm pretty much after the Ashdown sound. I use a Mag300 4x10 combo at the practice rooms, and it works brilliantly. So anything like that would work well. Hence why I like the ABM 400 head I tried. Hmm, so many choices
20.
No. If it starts making bad noises turn down or reduce your lows, regardless of the power ratings. Alex
Good policy there. Budget is about £400 atm to get myself sorted. Hence Little Giant at £300ish was a tempting idea. Could always save a bit more tho. What would be your suggestion?
21. Hurrah! No smoke displays for me. I already have the Behringer cab, but may be tempted to change it for something a bit nicer. I'm thinking ashdown ABM, I like how they sound. If it's 375 a side for an 8ohm cab, then would I need a cab to handle above that to be safe? I.e. running a 300watt cab might result in damage if I push it too hard?
22. Hi there, Quick question... If I was using an Ashdown Little Giant 1000w, and a Behringer Ultrabass BB210 (600w) + Ashdown ABM 115 (400w), would I be in for any problems? Thanks Roob
23. Sounds really good! Wasn't so sure on vocals, but opinion might be influenced by being a huge fan of the original
24. Hi there, Managed to get a few recordings of the band I am currently in (Monkeyhead), and was looking for some general feedback. Constructive criticism is appreciated We are a rock / pop covers band and are generally relaxed about playing. We don't play for money right now, and don't mind too much if not many people turn up to gigs, we just enjoy playing. Done 2 gigs so far though, both with really good audiences. Got a few more planned before the end of the year. Recording is not studio quality, borrowed a microphone off my brother. So vocals are perhaps a little quiet. There is 6 songs on there currently for your listening pleasure. Monkeyhead on YouTube Hope you enjoy them! Roob EDIT - Yes, I am aware our guitarist plays a few bum chords on SOS. He is also aware
