1. Okay. I dropped the price one more time...
2. 4 candles, Thanks! Actually, that is one of the things I like about it. I has the looks of an upright, but it plays like an electric.
3. If you've never seen a Barker bass before, imagine putting a jazz bass on end and adding a huge chambered body. Since it is held up by its stand rather than your body, its sustain goes on forever!
4.
What an alien-like looking creature. Beautiful !
Lee told me that he got the idea for shape from a statue of a lady in his garden...
5. Hello! Well, I've finally decided to put my Barker B1 up for sale. I've really enjoyed it, but I need to thin the herd a bit. If you've never seen one, they are very unique instruments. You can see all the details at www.barkerbass.com. The luthier, Lee Barker, is a great guy and wonderful to talk with. He started making these basses so that he could keep playing after getting carpal tunnel syndrome. When you play it, both of your wrists are nice and straight. This one (#75) has a 34", fretted, four-string, jazz neck. I've installed Nordstrand MM4.2 pickups and a StellarTone ToneStyler. I'll include the original pickups and pot in case you want to put it back to its original configuration. I will also include the gig bag, stand, and a set of foam mutes. It is currently strung with LaBella flat wounds. It does a few tiny dings. I can try to take pictures of them if you would like, but I'm not sure if they will show up or not. Here are some pictures. I'll add more as time allows. As far as I know, there are only two of these basses in country. I'm asking £1,000 o.b.o. (They are $3795 new.) Please send me a PM if you are interested. 7. I should have read this thread before I started my latest round of gear swapping...
8. SOLD! Hello! As I mentioned in my other post, I'm trying consolidate my kit so I'm selling off a few pieces of gear. I would also like to put up for sale my Epifani UL-310 Series 1 cab. It is in great condition. It sounds huge! It is a nice balance between a 2x10 and 4x10. Since the Series 1's are favored for their tone, they are getting harder to come by... I'm asking £600 + P&P. Local pick up in North Yorkshire would be preferred because of its size. From the Epifani website... Another Epifani innovation, this latest edition to the Epifani line is quickly becoming an industry favorite. Designed by Nick Epifani with the help of legendary bassist Lincoln Goines, the UL-310 combines the size and weight of a 210 with the power of a 410. Easily carried in one hand, the UL-310 is a favorite among musician's who enjoy making 1 trip from their car into the gig. * Speaker: 3 x 250w RMS Cast Aluminum Frame * 100w RMS Tweeter * Freq Response: 40hz - 16khz * Power Rating: 750w RMS (1800w Peak) * 5.3 Ohms * Suggested Wattage: 200w - 1000w * Sensitivity: 103db SPL @ 1w 1m * Recessed Handles * Dimensions: 23" H x 21.5" W x 17.5 " D * 47 lbs. Thanks for looking! Of course, a donation will be made after a successful sale.
9. This amp has been traded. Thanks for looking! Hello! I'm trying consolidate my kit so I'm selling off a few pieces of gear. First, I would like to put up for sale my Genz Benz 3.0-8T combo. It is in like-new condition. It has only been played in my home and the home of a friend (both smoke-free). It sounds great, especially on the floor, near a wall. The Shuttle 3.0 was able to drive my larger cab without a problem. I'm really happy with the amp. I just have too much stuff around the house... Here are the details: This ultra compact combo delivers impressive output and tone. The ported enclosure combines an 8” Neodymium loudspeaker and soft-dome Neodymium tweeter in a “micro” 13.5 lb. package. Power rating is 175 watts; 300 watts with optional extension cabinet. Ideal for café gigs, “acoustic” performances, jazz gigs or for practice. The SHUTTLE 3.0 amp when coupled to larger cabinets (NEOX-210T or 212T for example) can provide the power and clarity for much larger applications. FEATURES: • Ultra Light 2.75 lb Design • Power: 175W/8 ohms; 300W/4 ohms • High Current, Class D Power Amplifier • Extended Range Input Gain for Active/Passive Sensitivity • Active EQ w/Parametric Mids • 3-Band Signal Shape Circuit • Tuner Out • Headphone Jack • Aux. 10. Hi! Thanks for your quick reply. Actually, I was at the Bass Bash. I was the one taking pictures. It was really great meeting everyone any seeing their toys. (I've been lurking for awhile now....) To be honest, I'm after a good foundation in the basics. (No pun intended.) I would like to learn how to hold down the bottom end while playing with friends or just messing around at home. I love the virtuosos, but I have much humbler expectations for myself. As far as styles go, I like a variety of music. For bass, I like Rockabilly, classic rock, modern rock, blues, Motown and a bit of folk. I know that doesn't narrow things down much... I guess you could say that I'm more interested keeping great time playing twelve-bar blues than playing fusion Jazz solos. Well, not that I could do either at the moment. I would like to find some one to help show me the ropes a bit. More importantly, I need help focusing my practice (or lack there of). As a dad (aka gardener, "taxi" driver, coach, etc.), I need to make the best of the little bit of practice time that I have. This would also take someone with a bit of patience. I love music, but I can't say that I pick it up fast. It is like I want to write poetry, but I'm just learning the alphabet... I hope that helps. Thanks again!
11. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a bass guitar instructor in the Harrogate area that is willing to work with an adult beginner. Cheers!
12.
Do you mind if I use a couple of these on my blog? Jim's Blog I'll credit you, of course.
Not a problem. Everyone on BC is free to use them. I have higher resolution versions of all the pictures. Just PM me if you would like any of them. I can also do some basic cropping and color adjusting if you need. Some areas of the room were very dark while others had flashing disco lights.... Not exactly idea conditions. I apologize for the fuzziness and odd colors in some of the photos. I deleted quite a few before uploading the shots. My camera is like my basses. My lack of talent make me unworthy of my kit.
