1. I have an Ashdown 250 head and it is coming upto the time I need to replace the fan, it is making too much noise. What is the best brand to choose to reduce the sound and still be good at cooling the amp?

I guess it would be a 12v 80mm fan, unless anyone tells me otherwise?

  2.
This sounds like a great deal! I'm thinking along the 1x12 lines, but the Mark is the same size as my 2x10 and I'm after something a tad more compact - think I'll be on a self-build.
Best of luck with the sale, HUGH
I am interested. Whether I could bring my funds upto that level is another matter.

  3. I know this has probably been done a million times, but the search function never works for me.

I play a P bass, I play mostly motown/stax music with some 70's disco music thrown in. It is mostly finger style but I use some pick/slap work.

I will run the cab through an Ashdown MAG 250 head.

Chances are eventually I will have both cabs, but which one should I get first (the 115 is the one most avaliable second hand)?

also does a MAG 210 sound much different to an ABM?

  4.
It depends on what you mean by affordable? - A cheap no-name cable you can find on ebay, but can you afford for it to go wrong after a few connections/disconnections?

Go with OBBM - affordable quality
I shall be going with OBBM as soon as all the pieces arrive.

  5.
I understand the post issuses but for pease off mind i would send it to Ashdown
I shall have to save up then, or plan a holiday down there, drop it off on-route. hmmmmm.

  6.
just had my HEAD REPAIRED at ashdownn abm evo11 900 as they are only 30 mins from me i took it there myself i watched russell one of the techs and a bass player at work found the fault and then tested the amp £28
i have had a another abm head serviced at ashdown full service in which the amp was stripped down to a empty shell each part tested and cleaned four new trim pots replaced and then tested on the bench and in there sound booth £78
must inportant is that they have all the genuiane parts in stock and if it is a earley ashdown one of the techs at chelmsford would made it and it will come out off the service with the amp like new

It's ok if you can drive there, if you have to post it that's where the cost comes from. I don't have any relatives down there either.

  7.
Sad but true. The labour cost comparison though is not with Europe, it's UK verses India or China. This Marshall came from their Indian factory.
The business I work for is now owned by an indian company and we get to see some of the real gap in salaries for the guys assembling the units. It is substantial, otherwise why would all the industry more to the far east/asia. We also have a Chinese office and see the labour costs there. We cannot hope to compete on assembly and manufacturing costs, but it is more than just the salary levels, its all the employee benefits that you are used to getting in Europe, like helath care, pensions, etc. The cost of these in India is a fraction of what UK employers have to pay.
Am I the only person who actively seeks out "Western" world made products, aka UK, America, Japan/Korea and Europe. I just think the quality is far superior as they have a solid work ethic. China is all about mass production.
