I think what you need to do is try one first , a lot of people buy a kingbass to find they don't get on with the body shape, there is a thread about that on the forum somewhere.

do we need a string Porn thread to help people identify stings?

I will have mine at the SE bash, and the next Northampton one , whenever that will be. I can't see Rob outsourcing, as CK said Rob likes to be hands on in the production. But the same could be said for any of our bespoke bass makers in the uk, Im sure there would be a few people who would buy a Korean Made Shuker/GB/JD for half the price, but would it still be the real thing? As for the need to produce a cheaper Status all graphite bass, when i called to order mine it was a 12 week wait, Dawn told me they were unable to make any Streamliners to have as "in stock" as they were selling them before they were complete, so i figure they are not having any trouble selling them at the current price.

I love my Streamliner & hopefully I will have the funds to get a 5er soon

I was considering getting my 3000 toped with some nice quilted maple, but never got round to it.

I only have KB Prototype #4 , another member of Statii has #1 & 2, if i recall #5 is in france and the whereabouts of #3 is unknown. The Series 3000 was sold to fund the KB, so im just down to the KB#4 & Streamline, though gas for another Streamline gets me from time to time!

I bought this new in 1983 ( i still have the receipt) , the neck is stamped oct 82 if i recall, when i bought it i was told the color is cherry sunburst.

much quicker to change string on the headless ;-)

yep you got to love the old ones, i just restrung mine(1990) and played it tonight for a few hours, fantasic bass

it could be the jack socket failed and the electronics are on all the time.

+1 on the Status String , i buy in bulk & now use them on all my basses headed or headless!
